Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I hope Dexter competes in the paraolympics - he would crush people. It would be pretty spectacular.

that's like the argument of who would win in a basketball game: the guys at the garden or guys from the nba. sure some of the street ballers would do well, but there's a reason they're not in the nba with a few exceptions just like messengers who turn pro/go to the olympics.

ah crap! i've just helped hijack this thread to your liking.

(Sir) Hubert Opperman rode a bicycle from the age of eight as a Post Office Messenger, until his wife Mavys, fearing for his health and safety, forced him to stop riding in 1994 on his 90th birthday. His trusty Malvern Star bicycle was donated to the museum in Rochester, Victoria. At the age of 91 he died of a heart attack, while he was on his exercise bike in his home in Wantirna, City of Knox in Melbourne.

Vails was a keirin racer as well, according to his brother Earl he made a ton of money racing in Japan.

And yeah, I hope Dexter gets his **** together and does the paraolympics as well.

Taki 183 was a foot messenger, that's why his tags were on the subways.
