Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Mavic Elipse Question

Rear wheel has a double fixed hub right, so has anyone gotten a SingleSpeed Freewheel to attach safely to the rear mavic elipse hub? or is it just not do able?

Bikes: too many too list

As long as it is 1.37 x 24 thread it shouldn't be a problem. Getting it off again will prolly require dis-assembly of the hub tho.

my concern since it steps down pretty fast for the locknut on the mavic hub is that there would not be enough contact surface for the threads of the singlespeed body to be secure, ie the ledge too short to fit a singlspeed cog. ?? ... ??

they made them kind wierd so that they would take a freewheel. a couple extra threads.
thats why some people need a spacer to get the lockring tight.

so says tech guy after my lbs owner called them and said WTF and that was their answer. so it could take a freewheel.

MP 3 is a pretty sweet deal if you think you may kill a wheel in the first 2 years.

What are you guys paying for the Ellipse? I was checking with my LBS to see if they would do a group buy for the forums...but with the lack of response for the Michie buy I told them I didn't want to bother. I may want to get a set for myself though.
