i'm interested what people run up front. i run a rubino that's lasted over a year with minimal wear. probably because riding brakeless puts even less stress on the front tire cause just spins free all the time. are there any other recomendatons for long lasting tires that don't need to stand up to skids and are relatively lightweight?

Gatorskins and Rubinos are the only thing I've run up front. Both are great tires. Schwalbe tires feel really nice on the road and would probably make a good front tire canidate too..

Vittoria Corsa CX or Veloflex Crits

i like a rubino pro on the front. gets sliced and chewed but keeps on rolling. the first time i put em on i was surprised at the niceness of the ride.

i like gatorskins on the rear - they're sticky, ride very well, are virtually flatproof, and hold up well to skidding.

Ultra Gatorskins 23c front/back (for general riding) or Michelin Pro2s 23c front/back (for training rides)

I just put a 23mm Michelin Speedium up front. It doesn't seem as speedy as the Special_ed it just replaced, but it grips nicely in corners wet or dry. I like the look of the tread pattern too.

I find that my back tire is a lot more critical than my front, in terms of what will wear out fastest/last longest. I have a michelin something-or-other kevlar blah blah 700x23 on the front, and a gatorskin 700x28 on the rear. Used to run 2 of those michelins, but kept getting pinch flats in the rear tube no matter what pressure I filled it to. No problems now.

then they probably weren't pinch flats, unless you were installing your inner tube incorrectly.

Conti 4-seasons are the best front tire i've ever used. Amazing grip wet or dry, good lifespan, and kevlar belted/beaded.

kenda kaliente is probably the lightest "cheap" tire you can find. nearly flat-proof too.

This is the ideal combo for durability/grip.
