perfect spin /=/ perfect cadence |
If you want "me-to-bike", go clipless !

clipless ftw for the best pedal/foot connection. clips are almost as good, but you have to use stiffsoled cycling shoes and cinch the straps down tight so it's hard to get out of to get any real benefit from clips...then you are 95% of the way to clipless anyhow..so.. |

perfect spin /=/ perfect cadence |
ride rollers fixed thats the only way to perfect cadence in my book

i was pointing out that spin and cadence are not interchangable. but yea... |
Cadence=rotations per minute
Spin=efficient rotation of the cranks, particularly at high cadences |

hmm yes, spin was exactly the word i was looking for than.
i don't really want to deal with the negatives of clipless, e.g. having to bring two sets of shoes to work, paying for them, worrying about getting out of them in sketchy situations. i think cost is the biggest factor but yeah. i'd love to ride some for the me-to-bike feel but for anything other than pleasure rides or going to the track, i don't think they'd be ideal. i also wonder if the guy that broke through the powergrips is one of the burly types who would normally break through a standard leather strap as well. |
ok shut up and go ride your bikes I have an excuse for being here I am at work

can i get the shoes and clips for $100 or less?
|
powergrips have been around a lot longer than i thought. one bad experience and they seem sketchy? no way, powergrips feel a thousand times more secure than a single strap ever has...doubles feel pretty nice though.

they usually have a shoe/eggbeater deal for around 100, or if you wait for a sale/coupon you can get this cheaper or even a different combo cheaper...it pays to look around. |

eh i rode with powergrips when i first went fixed and ripped the strap out of the bracket trying to learn skids, i have never had anything remotely close to this happen with clips and straps. Personally, I'm never going to use them again |
woah power grips used to be the most hated things on this board, what happened?

oh also, andre nickitina, i am pretty far from burly, lanky may be a better adjective. I ride nylon single straps with mks clips and have never come close to ripping one. I just don't trust the attachment method for the power grips :/
edit: i am 6' 155lbs or so |
