Looking clean! Myth or fact: I heard if you powdercoat/paint your frame, it will void your warranty with specialized. Any troof to that?

I don't. I ride a 58 05 langster.

No toe overlap for me either: 2007 56cm. In fact I have about 1cm clearance from my toe/shoes to the front wheel.

Dude it might be a good idea to chill out and try not being so judgemental. The themed Langsters are all about fun. My wife is going to absolutely love the Tokyo version that I'm going to surprise her with. When did riding and owning a bicycle become so damm serious?

i got a langster.....i ride it single speed, its a 07' i think with armadilo tires.....i love it, although i haven never ridden any other bikes besides really ****ty ones so i don't know what to compare it too.....to me its seems really light and fast and handles great.

I know my Langster Comp is in the same boat as the Pro and just behind the S-Works but you can find the Comp's on eBay for steals sometime.

I have an 07 Comp (more track geometry) and just ordered an 09 standard Langster. I wanted the road geometry of the 09 and the front and rear brake option for SS if desired. The 58cm 09 Langster has the same geometry as the Tarmac.

Regarding the Langsters in general, I dig some of them. I had the chance to buy an '06 for about $350 and turned it down.
In retrospect, I'm glad I did, because that money paid for the Forge I currently ride. The Chicago one looks great, though.

I have put probably 1000 miles on my 2008 Langster. I really like it. It feels light and fast. Just a couple gripes.

The brake pads were really noisy for the first couple hundred miles. They made kind of a metal on metal noise, but it went away as they broke in.

Second, when I bought it it was making noise as I pedaled. I noticed the chain would get tight and then loose as the pedals were turned. I followed the instructions on Sheldon's site to fix this by centering the chainring, and the noise went away.

Third, I had kind of a popping noise when pedaling sometimes. I traced it to the freewheel, which is a Shimano mx-30. I oiled it up and it got better. Finally the other day I packed that sucker with waterproof marine wheel bearing grease and the noise is gone for good. I had the same problem on a SS MTB I built last year using the same freewheel. Now the bike rides very quiet.

I ride over a lot of bumps, and I go up and down curbs with it and so far the factory wheels look perfectly true.

I am thinking about bullhorns with TT levers, but lately I have been riding in the drops, so I think I may keep the original bars.

Nothing really sticks out as something that needs to be upgraded - except maybe the brake pads and freewheel, though neither is an issue at the moment on my bike.

I am 5'9" on a 54cm and the fit feels perfect to me.

I do have maybe 4mm of toe overlap.

Best thing is, the place I got it from was no longer carrying Specialized, so I got it on clearance for 399, regularly $650.

if you are getting into this 'fixie craze' for cool points or respect, dont choose the langster. no matter what you do, no one except you will like it.

i think it is a great relaxed geo street use 'track' bike and i love mine.

Langsters are a joy

I <3 mine too. So damn smooth and responsive. I use mine langster for commuting, fun rides, and a great workout. My only complain is maybe the alu. fork (I have an 05 and it's a bit jarring.)

I used to hate on Langsters, but they've really been growing on me lately. I'm going to try to do a weight-weenie fixed build (inspired by: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/fo...c.php?p=368961), and I'm deciding between using a Langster or a Sputnik as my base.
