tifosis are fairly inexpensive and actually very decent for polycarbonate lenses. Styling is okay, but the optics are very good--very little distortion means you won't get a headache/eyestrain (happens to me with cheapie glasses).

Ray Ban Wayfarers or Oakley Frogskins with croakies. Done.

LóFarkas 04-20-07 11:50 PM

Two words: Rudy Project.

Get one that wraps around your head nicely. I rock the Rydon and I love it. Pricey, but good. Comfy, light, durable. And you can buy all the bits separately, so if one part craps out you can replace it for real cheap.
2/3 the price of an Oakley or less, doesn't look like crap and works the same.

Mueslix 04-21-07 12:07 AM

I wear motorcycle goggles until it gets to be about 60 degrees, then I can wear sunglasses.

Sorry to repost all the pics, but does anyone know where I could find one of those helmets in the last three pics? And, like, what style is that? Thanks bros

^ search for hairnet in the cycling section on ebay. There is usually one a week. Sometimes Cinelli ones. They go for about $50. But honestly, the word is that they don't do too much for you.

rumor has it that they're actually worse for you than not wearing a helmet, because if you end up hitting your head, the leather snags on the concrete and wrenches your neck. then again, they're pretty cool in a traditional conversation piece kind of way.

oh yeah, and i have prescription oakley half jackets. basically the most popular roadie sunglasses ever.

shogun17 04-21-07 08:49 AM

Rudy Kalyos. But I'm a roadie :)

Modern Amusment 14's. Like wayfers, but just a bit of wrap. The green lenses let me wear them even when it's not super sunny and the only cost $29 bucks. They will never be touched by croakies though. Cheers.

You're more than welcome to... I understand.

rudy project sunglasses are really cool.

otherwise oakley now has transition lenses available. i've got a real nice pair that transition back and for between 30% light transmission to 70% (black to grey).

I also wear the sunglasses/clear glasses I used to ride my motorcycle with. The foam is made to seal out wind/dirt, etc. I didn't pick up a $100 pair...but I picked up less expensive pairs in clear and in smoke.

A couple of companies make those things. I think Rudy does, too, and Specialized.
The trick is to look up the % limits and make sure it's enough for you. I'd never buy one that only goes up to 70% cuz that's still pretty dark. Same with the dark end, look up the figure and compare it to other glasses.

I think there was a big technological improvement recently: my sister's new glasses go all the way to 95% or so (=perfectly clear), and very quickly. That was not available a few years back. I'm not sure if sunglasses can do the same already.

12XU 04-22-07 10:03 AM

I second, third, and fourth the Rudy Project recommendation. Three removable lenses, minimalist "roadie" look, and *gasp* they actually do something for me while riding!

I switch between aviators for short/slow rides from A to B, and a few pairs of oversized but squarish girl glasses that I get for $20 or less from surf shops, target, or forever 21. None of them are polarized, but graduated tint seems to work pretty well for most conditions.

matthavener 04-22-07 12:15 PM

get the ones they have at the eye doctor's office.. they are cheap and work really well

What planet do those cost only 29 bucks on?

jakeaaron 06-14-07 08:59 PM

I like my current glasses but they fit a touch big.
Does anyone know where I could get something to attach to the swingarm on my glasses to hook behind my ear?
I have a strap that runs across the back now to keep 'em from sliping but I'd rather something that just hooks behind the ear. I've looked on-line somewhat but been unable to find anything.

sorry to revive this tread but It seemed better then starting a new one.

**EDIT**

Nevermind I found something like what I was looking for on the Croakies page (not sure how the hell I missed it before).

Was just recently given these by a rich friend who said he's got tons of Oakleys:http://www.zappos.com/images/726/726...6-289556-d.jpg
They are amazing so far.
