Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: venerable surly crosscheck

Unless it comes in yellow/pink/purple I'm not interested.

I think the clear would turn some weird yellow-brownish color after being grimy and in the sun for too long. I think its a really cool idea though.

Neat idea, except you'd have to start with a new bar or clean all the crappy old adhesive off and buff out the scratches on your old bars first.

That's a really good point. This stuff is starting to sound like the answer to a question that nobody was asking.

Huh. Not for me.

I tend to think it's exclusively for the crowd that refuses to touch their handlebars without padded gloves (*coughroadies.. cough*). For some reason, translucent materials, at least from my experience, are never porous like cork. For gloved riders, this isn't a problem because they don't lose grip when they get sweaty. In fact, because the sweat can't soak into the material, these might last longer, stay fresh longer, and be easier to clean.

But because they're probably somewhat tacky and stretchy, at least at first, they're probably really easy to wrap and reapply.

I think the red and blue would look completely badass if you double taped the bars in that diamond pattern.

... how much mucous do you have at home? I definitely don't have enough to dip bars in.

Yes, but wouldn't it be about 6 inches thick?

They look good, but I reckon your hand would slip up and down, and up, and down, and up, and down....
