Affinity Cycles in Brooklyn
Hey guys,
I just came back from Affinity Cycles (https://www.affinitycycles.com/)...a new bike shop here in brooklyn. I've been looking for a nice track bike frame to build up. They let me test ride their black fixed gear and it was quite nice.... It has the same geometry as the white bike in the bottom right on their web page.
The guys there are nice and seems like a good place.
Has anyone had any dealings with them or have any comments on their frames?

I'm bumping this up...
I guess no more news on them, but I'm looking to do my first build this summer. I'm looking for a somewhat inexpensive frame that's not crap and I saw Affinity's name pop up in a BF search.
bradb, got anything else to say about the frame you test rode? do you know how much it is?
for some reason I'm really attracted to those leader/fetish track frames, but I don't know how practical they are. soma, surly, some old road frame, nycbikes, whatever I can find on ebay...so many choices!

i recommend the affinity guys. they've got some really amazing *cough* road frames in there, too. but $350 or so for a 4130 cro-mo track frame with a sloping top tube and lugged fork is really great. i'm not so sure what they offer for build options, but i'm sure they can order stuff.
and they are really nice guys. ..they throw one hell of a grand opening party.
if i were to replace my iro with another beater bike, i would go with an affinity for sure.

yeah, if i can recall off the top of my head, its not really that pursuit-ish. a think where the head tube meets the top tube on a 54cm affinity is around the same height as most other 54cm track frames that have level top tubes. basically, your stem is gonna be in the same position as any other frame, you just don't have to raise your seatpost up as high. its a longer seat tube.
but i'm not 100% on that. if you can email the guys over there, i'm certain they'd be pretty enthusiastic to talk to you about it.

ditto on them being nice at ttown. The dude was on top of it and seemed like he had thought out the complete builds well. They have a complete bike for 650, and a nicer one for 800.
They have some different frame options too apparently, like a 40mm rake fork and a 35mm fork. The fleur de lis fork crown and dropout is a nice touch, and theyre logo actually looks good on the bike. The sloping top tube is much shallower than the khs and others. For the price, it seems 50 dollars nicer looking than the pakes.
btw, he was explaining the geometry to me, and it was a sheet from maxway. So it should be the same quality as the other maxway frames.

from their website:
"Jamis, DMR, Ritchey, Surly, QBP, Planet X, Dawes, Greenspeed, Rans, Da Bomb, VooDoo, Sachs.... and so on"
There was a thread a couple weeks ago about IRO being built there, but it wasnt anything concrete. Chances are alot more than this list are made there.

Anyone have a sizing chart for these pursuit frames. I sent two emails with no luck so far.
Also are the frames still $350...I think I remember Prolly saying they were $450 now.

There are jpegs of the geometry out there somewhere on the web. I had them back in december, but I can't find them now. I don't remember how I got them.
I had trouble getting them over e-mail a well. I finally talked to Jay a few times and was ready to send them money for a frame, but then he stopped returning my e-mails. I'm sure they are nice people, but they lost a sale because they couldn't keep their e-mails organized.

Here is an email I got from Jason at Affinity 3 or so weeks ago.. I was interested in a Medium, but ended up picking one up from a friend. Id say just give them a call.
i'll have the pre order frames in the next two weeks. most of its
sold, after its gone it'll be mid november until the rest of the batch arrives.
i believe I have 3 or 4 mediums left if you're interested.
let me know, they're gonna go quick.
best,
Jason
BTW I love my Affinity. Its a little short, and the overlap can suck but Ive been able to get a comfortable riding position without the bike looking all goofy.

Affinity is the ****. Great guys, very very knowledgeable. I just had some Dia Gran Compe hubs put on Mavic Open Pro rims there and they are the SMOOTHEST ISH I have ever seen. Miguel killed it, and big up to the shop as a whole. I'd recommend them to anyone.
