Crankset and BB on a conversion question

If i get a new crankset for a conversion road bike, will i need a new bottom bracket? Or does it all just depend on the BB already on the bike and the new crankset?

It all depends. The BB that came on my Bianchi was 110mm I believe so when I put my crank on it stuck out and threw my chainline off by about 10mm which is no good. So if you current BB isn't too wide you'll be fine. Chances are you'll be changing it though.

so its pretty much you see if it sticks out or not? and if it does they are all interchangable?
