Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I have a great image of some spindly thief walking in with the bike trying to sell it and the bike being recognized, store owner not so spindly. Pure conjecture.

If the bike shop owner was able to recognize the bike and remember the owner, it seems to me that the owner frequents the shop. He'll be back at the shop in a couple months (after he's saved up enough money to replace his stolen bike) to buy a new one. Needless to say, it'll be a good day for him.

Great story, but the ad mentions "special" wheels. I'm thinking Marcus recognized the wheels more than he did the bike. Regardless, great story, I'm sure.

The bike stands out like a sore thumb. There is currently only one other guy with the wheelset (not just the front) and he rides a Javelin Vigorelli. The thief probably couldnt move it to anyone but bike nerds and he knew he would get caught if he asked one of us if we wanted it.
