I'm considering purchasing one of these bikes (probably the full setup as I'm very new to this and don't feel comfortable assembling from a frame just yet) so I can upgrade it as my budget allows over time. I've scanned the thread and found answers to many of my questions but I still have a few:

- I'm 5'10 and have a 32inch inseam, from what I can tell the 53inch would be the most appropriate?

- After purchasing the bike I'll still have about $100 - $150 I can drop into immediate upgrades. If you were in my position and you were going to use this bike for general day to day errands and some light commuting (I work from home and don't have a car, but do have to go to clients offices every now and then) what would you change first? I'll probably almost immediately swap the handles for bullhorns, but other then that I'm not really sure... new tires probably? If it helps I live in Austin, TX in the city (I've heard other Austinites mention it's worth upgrading to 17T for example).

buy a brake, quality cog and lockring (ex: dura ace lockring, surly cog), tires, bars - in that order

This post is for the guy asking about toe overlap on the 57.

Like a said, minimal.
And just to perhaps answer others with similar size question, I'm 6' and the 57 killott fits me very well. I think I have average to long legs and arms. I'm a US sz 11 shoe. I can standover the bike with a bit of space between the top tube and my family jewels.

*edit- Crap, sorry for the huuuuge image.

Thinking about the Mercier KIlo tt also

I'm really looking for a fixed gear. and these have been very appealing. I'm a recent convert and looking to but a decent TRACK bicycle. I've been looking for a while... at least what seems like a while- i really need a bike. I sold my khs dj50 and need to re-up... i have the same idea of buying a somewhat basic set up and then gradually upgrading piece by piece i've ridden a mountain bike all over the city for the last 8 months or so and i am ready to convert. I was a bit of a hater on fixed gears at first for who knows why... I thought my dirt jumping mountain bike with 150mm of travel was doing me just fine. I had ridden a fixed gear for only a couple minutes then i actually traveled on one and realized how much more convenient, in weight, size, and geometry, this fixed gear was.

I gave up on the kilo, and found a complete GTB for not much more.

They're both going to start shipping around the same time.

I got this reply from Jeff yesterday:

"I'm sorry but we will not have these back in stock for another 6 - 8 weeks. The shipment has been delayed for a multitude of reasons that are not very interesting but very frustrating. Thanks for your inquiry.
Best regards,

Jeff"

bummer...

so, who wants to buy a 60cm kilott for a fairly unreasonable price? :)

vocaltest 03-06-08 12:31 PM

JESUS CHRIST 6 WEEKS?

F*** my A**

jessebest 03-06-08 12:31 PM

I received this yesterday from Bikesdirect:

hi jesse,
these bikes were listed as prepay on the site and in your tracking email.
i do, however, have great news!
they are going to be shipping either this week or early next week
thanks
karla

genuflect 03-06-08 12:52 PM

so if i order the kilo now i won't receive it till 6weeks from now ??

bryanhayn 03-06-08 01:06 PM

I want a Kilo TT too!

I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam. I'd rather have a bike that's a bit too small than a bit too large. Should I get the 57cm or the next one up?

rduenas 03-06-08 01:44 PM

Anyone want a Green 50cm? I'm selling mine.
