How do you pronounce IRO?

3-Rensho thread got me thinking.

Seriously. I've heard Ear-Roh, Eye-Are-Oh, Eye-Roh, of course I.R.O, and much more.
For clarification, so there can be a standard, whats the right way?
Especially hearing all about the group buy in real-non-internet conversations...IRO ten different ways gets frustrating. And when people talk about my Jamie Roy, oh man.

dobber 06-11-07 05:02 PM

Same way as the last thread

jonnywill 06-11-07 05:08 PM

really. wow.
i've been saying it all wrong for a long time now.

Yoshi 06-11-07 05:21 PM

Tony (the guy who runs IRO) pronounces it Eye-Roh.

good. if Tony says it then its right. thats how i've been pronouncing all the while, so i feel reassured. I've called Tony in the past but I didn't catch his phone greeting.

Yeah, really. It's not like Tony went and changed it or put one of those cute ^ over the O.

Astronomical 06-11-07 06:02 PM

IRO is pronounced "San-Rensho".

Ur doin it rong.

pixel 06-11-07 06:11 PM

Isn't "IRO" Tony's HAM radio or CB (not sure which) handle?

allow me to point out that the thread's purpose was served and the information requested was provided. Then all you scene hornets decided to swarm in and make oh-so-hilarious jokes about nothing. Yay you!
You win at forums!

it is funny to a point.

once a thread turns into what that thread did, it is over. PM any other mod with your complaint. Let us know how it goes.

"Eye-roh"? That's disappointing. I have been saying I R O for the past year.... :o

dmg 06-11-07 07:46 PM

Relatedly... what is up with the IRO site? It was looking for nice for a while, and now it's falling apart like the Zimbabwean economy.
