Cinelli Alter stem

what does everyone have to say about the Cinelli Alter stem? good? bad?

dylandom 06-12-07 08:05 PM

only works with 1 inch threadless. sucks for me. i've heard they are pretty good. haven't heard anything negative about it.

Only good if you can find the pinup plate for the top.

I think they look awesome.

i've never used one, but i like the way they look and i've read that they're very stiff.

i've also heard good things about the 3t mutant stem. check that out if you haven't seen it

i was about to give it a hork. but they actually look pretty good ON the bike.

veggiemafia 06-13-07 08:52 AM

They're not light, but they're cool looking, and supposedly among the stiffest stems ever made.

It's really easy to strip the threading for the bolts on those things. You need to be really careful tightening it down.

I have one...a black 110 with a cinelli threaded adapter....it is for sale if you are interested. PM me if you want it.

i have one, i ******** LOVE it.

kensmerlin 06-13-07 02:58 PM

I've never used it but it was plenty stiff and stylish enough for Cipollini to use. The Alter pinups are an added bonus.

love it
