Granted-- $150 isn't a lot of money, but why would you throw ANY money at something without at least taking a quick look at what it is you were buying?? Makes no sense to me...
well, no offense to tony, but his website (current and previous) sucks, and was pretty much changing daily - i certainly did not see the sizing chart when ordered... i ride a 56, so i got a 56... sure, there could have been more due dilligence on my part, but it would have only led to me not buying at all (57cm top tube is too much of a stretch for me for me). i'm not pissed or anything, it's a steal either way - but i definitely would have gone for a threadless fork if i had known the 56 was so short -- like i said before, **** a long ass quill stem.

either way, my around town fixie was stolen a week and a half ago, and i don't like to use my roadie to kick around on, so i replaced it with an uno on the cheap. so worst case scenario, the IRO doesn't fit & i end up with the dope wheels/cranks/misc parts i got for the iro on the uno (a cheap chinese frame's a cheap chinese frame, no?) & a spanking new quill stem for my classic roadie. I'm sure someone will apperciate the frame for what i paid for it.

suppose this leads me to a question, though. Anyone (who typically rides a 56) ride a 56 angus/mark V? do you basically have to jack the seat up 20 feet and be in sprint position all the time?

the bike on the left is a 56. the bike on the right is the same but with the top tube raised about 4 cm.
that's about how the 56 would look if it had a 56 c-c seat tube.
the top tube on the 56 is 55.5 c-c... is 0.5 cm going to kill you?
is 4 cm more seatpost showing going to **** up your life?

it's pretty common for people to go by seattube and then everyone's all, "wait! iro runs small!" and then everyone's all "whoa I'm lost what's a top tube measurement"

I don't think bike sizing has been consistent at any point in my life. People buying a bike online should know that top tube is by far the more important measurement. Seat posts have lots of play, stems.. not so much.

I ride 56 on all my road frames, 56 tt (effective) on my old giant compact, 56 tt on my motobecane le champion I got to replace the stolen giant, and most importantly, a 56 on my Mark V. I would say my torso length is ever-so-slightly on the short side for a 56 on my road bikes (a problem I solved easily with some component swapping) but I bought a 90cm stem (tony sent me a 110cm with the build kit) to run bullhorns on my Mark V. I run the syntace bullhorns that have a 20cm drop on the bar, and about 1cm of spacers below the stem. When I run risers on the Mark V, my 110cm stem is perfect.

My guess is that you won't have any trouble with the 56 group buy frame.

i don't have any money or time to work on this and if i can get rid of it, that would be great.

caveat: like many, mine came with some damage. there's paint that peeled off the fork ends. tony emailed and said they would be shipping touch up paint once they find a color match. for now, the frame's just sitting in the box, still in all it's packaging.

pics here

PM if interested

I think the FFSG sub forum should have a TT measurement advocacy group. I have see so many individuals come and ask what size should I have, I am such and such height. Then someone tells them a ST measurement. Well, besides the fact that it is difficult to know an exact size for someone that is such and such a height, ST measure is definitely not the best way to determine size. And yes TT measure is also not going to tell you for sure what size bike to get, but it is certainly a closer metric.
