tikbuk2 strap replacement?
i have an extra large timbuk2 classic bag. i don't use it much (usually just need my chrome mini metro) but when i do i am severely annoyed by the strap adjustment system. so i'm curious, is there a bag maker out there who would be able to replace the strap system on my timbuk2 for something more user friendly like the chrome or r.e.load system? or am i just better off buying a whole new bag?
edit: anyway to edit titles here?

you could PM seagull bags and ask him. unless the strap system is different on the XL, it seems like it would be fairly straightforward to remove it and sew in a new one, or even cut the existing heavy-duty nylon and use it as a mount point for something else. the fixed cam buckle on the other side might be a bit trickier.

Unless you're handy with a sewing machine (and can get yourself some EVA foam, ballistic nylon, and those Stealth buckles), buy a new bag. I recommend the BaileyWorks SuperPro.

I had this problem with a patagonia bag, so I chopped a seatbelt out of a taxi (it was headed to the scrapyard) and had a friend with a stout sewing machine attach it to the bag, along with a couple of adjustable pack buckles from an outfitting store. It's padded with a luggage pad. Now it's somethign like a chrome, but with a sweeter seatbelt buckle.
