Maxway bikes in Taiwan

http://bicycle-frame.bicyclenet.com....ycle-frame.htm

Can someone tell me some more about these frames? Are they good quality and worth it? I'm in Taiwan right now, (Taipei), might be stopping by Taichung though. Let me know.. thanks!

You can probably find those same frames anywhere else, but with a major bike brand's name on it.

sven_svensenson 06-29-07 07:11 PM

maxway is the the most advanced steel frame building factory in taiwan. they produce the high end steel frames industry wide. including brands like lemond, jamis, surly, etc...

not sure if they do other materials though...

AfterThisNap 06-29-07 07:25 PM

you likely can't buy just one.

Totally, because I have $10,000+ to drop on a bunch of frames
that I may or may not be able to sell.

just check the dumpster out back

potus 06-29-07 08:47 PM

My brother-in-law is from Taichung. I was visiting him one summer and he called them up to see if we could buy a frame. At the time (5 years ago) they said they'd sell us an un-branded frame. A bit of a back door kind of deal from my understanding. we never ended up doing it, but it may be worth trying. it would probably help to have someone native on your end working out the details.

Hopetoditchcar 06-29-07 09:11 PM

the font is very similar to leader frames

my sputnik has maxway investment-cast dropouts, and jamis tells me "frame is hand welded in Taiwan by a company that I can not disclose, but they are very reputable." hmm...mystery solved?

that said, none of the three maxway frames shown are the sputnik. also, if you looked at their site, they apparently weld alloy bikes as well.

Buy a pile of em and start your own bidness.

blickblocks 06-30-07 03:48 PM

How much is it going to cost you?

SingleSpeeDemon 06-30-07 03:52 PM

Maxway is the new Nagasawa.

shogun17 06-30-07 05:03 PM

When the group buy first happened, a bunch of us said
that we wanted super-cheap aluminum (or titanium, but
that's not going to happen) true-track frames. If someone
organizes a group buy of just such a frame, then count me
in.

AfterThisNap 07-01-07 04:08 AM

Psst. You can get the frames for less than 50 bucks each with an order of 100 or more (thank you interbike!). The catch is that you also have to buy a shipping container from Asia to Los Angeles, then distribute the frames. Where my west coast peeps at?

Fugazi Dave 07-01-07 11:40 AM

This actually has interesting potential. Get a group order together, get a few bike shops on board to take up the slack in the numbers, and we could get a thoroughly badass deal.

vee_dub 07-10-07 01:43 PM

How come the thread is dead?? I contacted the seller minimum order is 100pc. Can we have a group buy here???

They are 68 dollars per frame.

fibergoldfish 07-10-07 01:48 PM

than plus at least another 70 dollars for shipping costs....still not a bad deal if you can get down on some aluminum or TI count me in

fibergoldfish 07-10-07 01:49 PM

http://bicycle-frame.bicyclenet.com....rame/Y2R14.htm

I could get down on one of these

bonechilling 07-10-07 01:53 PM

I'd be interested in either this:

Oh, and toss is one of those carbon fiber track forks:

bonechilling 07-10-07 01:59 PM

Wait, how about a group buy on these?
