Rode my first fixie :-)
had my first ride on my first fixie, an '07 Raleigh Rush Hour... best purchase ever!
HOLY CRAP! I have a whole new respect for fixed gear riders, especially ones who run brakeless.
ya should have seen it, I couldn't even start my bike. I'm so use to coasting starts where I stand my left foot on one pedal and then roll the bike forward a few feet and then start pedaling. NO i could not do that, had to get the pedal in the right position, even doing so it was a struggle.
and slowing down using the pedal,,, F@#$ I almost fell over the bike when I tried that. how do you people even do that? especially skidding!?!
ahh my legs are killing me and I can't wait to ride that damn bike again!

Congrats. I know my first time on a fixed-gear bike was a rather "new" feeling but you get used to it. Just get used to the bike and how to start, pedal, and stop reliably before you use the thing on public roads, please. I don't want to hear about anyone getting hurt. hehe
But yes my fixed gear bike is still a much more rewarding ride than my geared bike long after I purchased it. It's a change of pace when biking which is refreshing.

No kidding. I had never ridden with clips and straps before.
OP, you will get used to it. also, make sure that you ride with a brake, and keep those straps kind of loose for the first few rides.

i got a rush hour a month ago. it's great; except for the **** pedals and brakes, which i replaced along with a ergo bar. i went clipless, too, which made skids much easier for me.
ps GET THE LOCKRING TIGHTENED. happened to a lot of us rushies.

I know how you feel. I had my first fixed ride a couple of weeks ago at the local track. It was so fun. I never figured out how to get my foot into the toeclips so I just switched the pedals out for SPDs. The whole brakeless thing is a little less unnerving when everyone else is running with no brakes and going in the same direction. I'm hooked now and am awaiting the IRO frame to come in.
