i had looked at OEM takeoffs on ebay for a little while, but found that most had alloy steerers and didn't list enough specifications, namely axle-to-crown distance and rake. ultimately i ended up getting a very satisfactory deal on an ouzo.

i would have liked the fork from a TK2 or pista concept but couldn't find one.

Isn't a the rake on a track fork closer to 43? If you put a road fork on the IRO and the rake is around 44 or 45 wouldn't is mess your handling up?

thanks, ive been thinking about building a single speed commuter and i think those bars would be sweet and comfy.

I just sold mine... got $200 for it, after six months of every-day use, so I fared pretty well.

I have been riding it since summer, slowly changing stuff here and there. Finally pretty happy with new x-mas bar tape. Really fulfilling as I installed all parts myself (a big jump for me). Slowly working on building a set of wheels with the miche hubs.

Nothing special but it is a fun bike. In the original poll I voted for a cheap disposable bike.
The problem now is that this is my favorite ride. It won't be tossed to the ground anytime
soon while trying to learn tricks. For the record, I really don't like the stem/bar angle now
that I see it in pictures. Not sure what I'll do there.

Finally got my bike together. This is my first FG bike and my first build. After riding it a bit, I think I need a longer stem so I'm looking to switch out my 100mm for a 120mm. Cosmetically, I'd also like to change to leather bar tape, dye the saddle a darker brown, and maybe get a black seatpost. But that aside, I'm loving it. Spent last night in Com Ave working on my track stand. Props to Cambridge Bicycle School for helping with the build and everyone here for advice.

I'm also had this fleur de lis cut at a local metal smith shop to use as a headbadge. I'm working on getting it bent to fit the head tube....

that looks excellent. my iro mark v is in the mail. my question is what size tire and rim combo are you running there? I want to upgrade the rims and tires to something a little wider than stock for these boston streets. and yours looks nice and beefy.....

Bacchusbill 04-03-08 09:59 AM

I'm not certain, but that looks like an Alien wheelset...

editted to add that I think the tires may be Conti gatorskins.

This thread references the IRO Group Buy for BFSSFG users. Those frames didn't have logos.

I will hopefully soon be getting a Mark V complete.

Eventually I hope to have a nice black on grey color scheme going.
