Yeah, those are ridiculous.. and they can actually trackstand on 'em. Incredible speeds they can achieve as well.

I would not want to be the homie on the back. The guy on the front just looks obtrusive.

oktokrewl 07-10-07 09:26 PM

how do they decide who goes in front and who goes in back?

im really curious...

really...

mentat6059 07-10-07 10:11 PM

at the paralympics in the case of sight impared cycling its generally the visually impaired rider at the back otherwise its the brown noser

dcdude 07-10-07 10:52 PM

I've been obsessed with tandem track bikes for ages! We have one of those in the bike room at the velodrome and a friend and I are planning on learning how to ride it. :-D

post pics plz.

I totally want to see people ride backwards circles, or better yet, pop wheelies, on one of those. Fixed tandem tricks are the future....

shogun17 07-11-07 04:16 AM

Deep Vs.....

And here is no chance in hell you could wheelie one of those. The balance point would be near vertical.

Incidentally, one of the age-old questions of BFSSFG has been settled!

Ex-forum member ella has (access to) a track tandem here in Bp and a couple of friends of hers rode it on the streets... sped up too much... tried to skid to stop in time... turned the front wheel too far accidentally when the skid didn't really happen... and flipped the damn thing!

So there you have it: you can flip a tandem :D

I'm still waiting for tandem mountain biking, tandem slalom bmx, tandem downhill racing, that sort of thing.

Tandem MTB and tandem downhill is done. But since there are so few they usually don't have anyone to race against. There are many rigid MTB style tandems and a few FS models available (e.g. Ellsworth Witness, Ventana El Conquistador de Montañas,...)

Aeroplane 07-12-07 10:01 AM

I think tandem cyclocross would be pretty sweet... syncronized dismounts/remounts? SWEET!

3Lph 07-12-07 10:08 AM
