Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I would not want to be the homie on the back. The guy on the front just looks obtrusive.

I've been obsessed with tandem track bikes for ages! We have one of those in the bike room at the velodrome and a friend and I are planning on learning how to ride it. :-D

I totally want to see people ride backwards circles, or better yet, pop wheelies, on one of those. Fixed tandem tricks are the future....

Deep Vs.....

And here is no chance in hell you could wheelie one of those. The balance point would be near vertical.

Incidentally, one of the age-old questions of BFSSFG has been settled!

Ex-forum member ella has (access to) a track tandem here in Bp and a couple of friends of hers rode it on the streets... sped up too much... tried to skid to stop in time... turned the front wheel too far accidentally when the skid didn't really happen... and flipped the damn thing!

So there you have it: you can flip a tandem

Tandem MTB and tandem downhill is done. But since there are so few they usually don't have anyone to race against. There are many rigid MTB style tandems and a few FS models available (e.g. Ellsworth Witness, Ventana El Conquistador de Montaņas,...)

I think tandem cyclocross would be pretty sweet... syncronized dismounts/remounts? SWEET!
