on the three tooth one, only one of the teeth engages a notch. but since the wrench goes most of the way around the lockring, it will grab on and not slip off.

Well, I haven't changed it since I put it on a long friggin time ago (along with putting the cog on with a chain and a vice) and its still holds snug after many many skids...

With the park 3 tooth/1 tooth rig, the curvature is such that the middle tooth on the 3 end will get a good grip on track lock rings. You can also grind the 1 tooth end out a little so it works with track lock rings, but if you have a grinder you might as well just make lockring pliers out of some channel locks. Somebody posted instructions on here like a year ago that were awesome, but the only non-obvious part is to take a lock ring and either scribe the outline onto the pliers or just blast it with spray paint to get the outline. The rest is just grinder work (and wiping paint off of your lock ring).

no, you're not. wrench i used to hang out with used, well, a heavy rubber mallet and... hmm... not a screwdriver. don't know what it was, but it was just a solid block of metal, a long rectangle. anyway, it sufficed fine. with a firm, gentle touch, you can do what you need to on a lockring.

Just got that today and it seems to work pretty well. The chainwhip slipped off the cog a couple times (it was on there GOOOOOD) but I suspect that was just my own incompetence. Feels well made, lockring end of it is def. solid.

I posted a way to make your own lockring pliers in the DIY thread which is in the resources thread. Works well for $10 but someone stole them so I broke down and bought the Park tool. Just slightly more than the pliers but I didn't want to file down another pair of pliers. I will never understand the amount of complaints about the Park tool, busted knuckles/fingers, if you use the right end it works perfect.

At 40 bucks, it's pretty far from a cheap tool. Doesn't feel cheap in the least, either...

as per prior experience the da lock ring tool is rubbish but thats ok
and at 40 bucks I would rather buy a set hozan pliers and rotafix my cogs

My dad has this tool I used on mine, I'll have to post a picture, I believe it is for something on his motorcycle and it coincidentally fits the lockring.
