Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: 1/2 of a Giant Yukon, Cayne Uno

looking for my first fixed/single speed

so I've been riding a Giant Yukon since 2004. I left it at work one night (my birthday) and come back the next morning to find that my wheels had been stolen. Happy birthday, stupid. Also, I work half a block from the police precinct. My friend was joking that the only people ballsy enough to do that would have been the cops, and I have seen their bikers riding Yukons....

So now I'm looking for a new bike, and I think it is coming down between the Cayne UNO (Rowletts special?), the Giant Bowery, and maybe "splurge" for an IRO Mark V, if they have it. Any thoughts, comments on these three bikes? I'm not used to a single speed bike, but I just want something I'm not going to have to worry about as much when im just commuting. Not that I'm leaving my bike outside of work ever again....

I'd go with the Mark V. I'm looking to build up a beater and the Mark V is my choice.
