Fine folks of this our nations capitol
Some friends and myself are coming up saturday just to ride around and such. Could anyone share some fun places to ride to, rad shops, killer food, or want to squire us about for the afternoon? Thanks a bunch!

An errant piece of flak tore a hole in a wing tank and, like a wounded bird, this is where she landed, not to return on this day, or any other day.

There's a new shop called The Bike Rack (www.bikerackdc.com) on 14th and Q which seems to cater to a fixie crowd, so you'll want to check that out, though I also reccomend Bicycle Pro Shop in Georgetown on M street across from the Key Bridge for pure bike porn and really friendly people. Adams Morgan has some good little food joints and two punk rock record stores (Smash and Crooked Beats), so bring some bucks for some that. There's a whole bunch of little eateries in Georgetown and on the U street corridor, but your day in DC will not be complete without a beer at the Brickskeller near DuPont Circle.
If you want flat, unninterupted miles, you can ride at Hains Point. Georgetown has fun little back alleys to play around in, including some nice cobbled stretches. It's also fun to play around by the National Mall and in Downtown, which should be relatively empty as most businesses will be closed. DuPont circle is also a neat little place to ride and eat.
Good luck and enjoy your visit.

You could go to The Tune Inn for burgers and beers. Pennsylvania Ave @ 4th Street, on Capitol Hill.
Check out the new National Portrait Gallery in Chinatown for paintings of famous dead white guys. Then go over to the corner of H St. N.W. and 6th St. N.W. to China Town Express (there's a guy in the window making noodles by hand). Each couple should split one order of noodles and one order of mixed dumplings; you'll be completely full. Then go back to 509 7th St., the District Chop House, and go to the upstairs bar for the house microbrews.
Lock the s--t out of your bike wherever you go.
