Recently switched to clipless pedals. I stopped at a red light (shock!) and unclipped my right foot. For some reason I started leaning to the left.

Fell over with my left foot still attached to the bike.

Two girls laughed at me. Right at me. I gave them a thumbs up.

F*ck. I need to go high-five some pedestrians.

Such is life.

What matters is that you got back up and rode on.

Why does talking about a humiliation somehow absolve the residual embarrassment, anyhow??

Now, why didn't you unclip your left foot as you were going down?

It's good practice to instinctively be able to click out of either foot.

haha nice!

i one fell off my bike. ended up on my stomach in the end with one of my legs in the air, and my bike still clipped to my foot kinda dangling off it, hovering off the ground.

i think i did a thumbs up to the girl in the car behind me, she was like :O

well at least you're not me..

I did a little skip stop the other day and when I landed/stopped my zip front skirt fell down.. it's funny cuz you could see my butt.. but a bit embarassing

I guess the zipper had fallen down a bit while riding and when I stopped it unzipped the rest of the way.. but what else is there to do but pull up your pants (skirt) and keep doing what your doing..

at least the cops that it happened in front of didnt laugh.. my husband sure did tho

I had the same fall too where I unclipped right foot and fell left. instead of twisting my foot to release I tried pulling out like clips/straps. old habit.

and gosh so far I've been lucky to not have fallen around people.

Some years ago I started practicing unclicking out of my non-dominant foot. When I felt comfortable doing this I would consciously alternate unclicking out of one foot at one stop, then the other foot at the next, and so on....until it became second nature, which foot hits the ground depending on the situation like pedal position, for instance...
But of course, the better alternative is to simply trackstand and not even bother with all this...

Probably because most of us have been there, done that.

Behold, the power of the innanets.

:Sigh:

Why is it always two girls. Never even just one; it's always two, so they can laugh together.

Fortunately, the humiliation only lasts for a little while. I had my only clipless tip-over about 3 months ago and my right knee still hurts, so I have a daily reminder.

Do you trackstand both ways too?

Yes, and it helps, depending on where your pedal stroke ends up at the stop light.

I had a clipless moment tonight. I didn't fall, but I awkwardly unclipped all wobbly to prevent falling and it was awkward. whenever I fall/almost fall like that I always say "clipless!" out loud. cus you know, that totally justifies it, and everyone around knows what I'm talking about.
