Fork mounted lights?
I tried searching, and though there are a lot of posts on lights, I couldn't find anything about fork mounted lights. I want some removable lights that I can mount to my forks. I have found brackets that can mount to the forks to use standard bar mount lights, But dont seem to be easily removable. Is there anything out there?

I put it on my fork all the time and a lot of other people do too. Bright as hell. Knog.

This seems like a bad idea.

I've got a few of those, including a red one on the back of my helmet. They are great.

Plus you can get cool foreign points cuz everyone in Japan has them too.

Be careful when choosing lights if you are going to be riding at night regularly. Those Knog lights probably don't emit enough light to see or be seen properly in the average urban setting?
Check out Dinotte for powerful, easily mounted lights. |

i disagree... i think they're fine for being seen, but they don't provide any headlight.
|
In an 'urban setting' there are lights everywhere for that.
|
totally. i use fork mounted knogs on both of my bikes for just bumming around, but if i head to a park or darker neighborhood, i'll usually throw the cat eye on.

I'm not saying they're useless, but I think that by themselves their light is inadequate for road use. |
so we shouldnt even use bike lights at all? thats a good idea.
|
Any light is better than no light, but it only takes one driver that didn't see you to **** you up.

p.s. if they can cut through the never ending neon of tokyo, they can be seen anywhere. Plus blink setting ftw |
i think they're extremely small and most drivers wouldn't really notice it. that's why you need big annoying lights for people to even pay attention to you. i came frighteningly close to hitting a motorcyclists stopped a red light that was turning green because their tail light was so weak--i'd say it was the motorcycle equivalent of the knog. when i ride late at night, i normally have a couple friends with me, so if they don't see us there's something wrong with their eyes.
as for fork-mounted lights, i'm a fan of the oldschool front lights that generate electricity from friction with the front tire. |
knogs are great, anything but red imo. i think the red is REALLY dim compared to the other LEDs. the white is really good up front.
i just bought this kick ass 7 red leds for my back light. its the shizzle. forgot the brand name :( here's a pic! http://i9.tinypic.com/5x3kvud.jpg |

That's not true. Some of the newest tech headlights for cars are LED.
Im a big fan of Audi and i know that they developed some of the first ones. Im not saying the knogs are as bright as the ones used in the cars but they do hurt my eye when i look straight at them. :) |

i don't doubt that at all, but it's still just a single LED, you could have the brightest single LED in the world but it a) won't provide you any light if you need it, and b) it still won't be as obvious as a large halogen bulb.
|
so what is the battery life of the knogs? I might run a pair of them up front...and a bright as hell taillight, because it is the people behind me that really scare me. Any suggestions for a good clean taillight that puts out some serious light?
