To paint, or not to paint...
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...2/P1020585.jpg
This frameset will shortly be in my possession. I have a history of powdercoating my frames, marking them with a bit more originality, plus I have a good connection. So, what do you guys think. I like the stock paint, but its a little cheesy. Sacrilige(sp?) to cover the fade or get to it? The color I have in mind is going to be awesome. PS Heres what I did with my bareknuckle: http://velospace.org/files/lksdjfoi2...9fdkjgpodf.jpg |
if you paint that frame i will ride my bike up to seattle just to punch you in the brain
|
are you ********? don't do it fool.
|
That paint looks fabulous and there are so many options you have to make everything look pleasing, although your Bareknuckle looks great too.
Is it just a weird photo, or does the logo on the seattube look photoshopped? |
:) it does look photoshoped, but its not. its just the angle/focus. so far i'm leaning towards painting it. fades never did it for me, especially blue. dont worry bike snobs, its getting a full njs build.
|
Please don't paint that. Please.
|
do it man forget what other people say. if you want to paint it do it!!
|
One day I see there being a group of NJS extremists who, inspired by PETA, throw red paint on any re-painted NJS frame and then proceed to violently gangbang the owner.
|
I see that day coming too. At that time, I will be prepared to Ulock any man, woman, or child in the face. Gangbang is OK.
|
both paintjobs are pimpin
|
At first I thought it was just the lighting, but that really is a fade job, right? Please don't paint it. There are lots of other bikes that you could paint.
|
paint that ****
|
I don't give a sh*t about NJS but if you paint that
it seems like a serious waste--the color is the bomb and you cannot duplicate it in all likelihood-- what were you thinking, paint it black or bright orange or something? Nah--ride that thing until it really needs a paint job. Leave it. |
Seriously, forget the NJS aspect, if you run that thing under a bridgestone collector's nose they will pay you not to paint it.
Also, marking a fade bridgestone with "a bit more originality" with p-coat? You have to be kidding. How many frames like this do you think are out there? I love powdercoat for basic one-color jobs, and yeah, you can do sparklies and other BS, but this frame was painted by hand, and you want to have somebody strip it, shock it, dust it, and bake it, and call that original? F that. |
Please dont paint it..leave it original...
Just like when u get a very nice pursuit frame from 1980s...u wouldnt want to paint it cause its have the soul from the 1980s era. If u paint it..the soul is dead. |
Is the OP fishing for comments on how dope that frame is?
F*ck it--paint it doo doo brown. Yes, your frame is that cool--ok--now leave me alone before I ravage e-bay looking for something that tight. |

Paintjobs are the best thing about NJS frames. Seriously. The second best thing are the decals/logos (exception being Kiyo, the logo is better than any paintjob, except a landshark). Take those two things away and it's just another track frame.
Keep as is, and build it up however you want (kashimax saddles are for suckers). |
You wont see another Bridgestone painted like that.
Remember that when you redneck it up. |

dont worry guys, the paints staying, i just wanted to see how many snobs i could get to worry about someone else's bike...:)
|
I have no idea what an NJS even is, but I wouldn't paint that frame; it is sweet..

bwa bwa bwaaaaaaa
the only reason you shouldn't paint it is that it seems in good condition- waste of money to paint a perfect frame if you ask me plus i think those fade jobs on some njs frames are really unique. for everyone screaming at him for njs preservation? what? last i checked theres no world keirin museum buying up yahoo frames only in original perfect paint... and to top if off if a museum WERE to buy up a frame like that, if it had dings and **** all over it wouldn't they just repaint it to how it looked originally anyway? just my 2 cents but i don't understand the crazy fanatical obsession with original paint. look at vintage cars- if that ****s scratched up they repaint it and get original decals. it's called restoration. in this case though it seems a waste as the frame is already cherry. if it wasn't though- i'd say go for it to get your dream bike, in the end 20 years from now no one will give a **** if it was original paint anyway.. if they wanted original paint they're paint it to it if it wasn't. |
