sad sight
Saturday night I went downtown to meet a friend and parked my singlespeed near the central railway station (in front of Sanomatalo, for you helsinki people). When I came back, some 3 or 4 hours later, I found the bike next to mine had its rear wheel stolen. I felt really sad for the owner. In the mix of emotions there was anger agaisnt the ******* who did that, and relieved it wasn't my wheel to be stolen.
I wonder if a geared bike's rear wheel (with a prominent cassette) is more attractive than a singlespeed's. Maybe it was the QR - I don't have one, the other guy or girl did.

QRs are much easier to steal, and a thief might imagine it's more valuable, especially if it's a fancy road bike. Sucks, though; I wish we didn't have to do the chain plus u-lock plus burly dude watching your **** when locking up.
