Anyone rock bibs? if so, what kind. Nashbar has their own on sale--anyone w/ experience w/ nashbar bibs???

I've only had good experiences with these.

What's the point of 'em, anyway? more comfy?

I have two pairs of Cannondale bibs which are really comfy.

And bibs are more comfortable than normal shorts because they don't need to have a tight elastic waist band.

Descente Aero X and Hincapie HC-12. Bibs are the only way to ride.

They hold ur stuffs up.

Bib benefits: Elastic waist band doesn't dig into your diaphram. They are very comfortable.

Disadvantages: If you got to drop a duece, it is a pain in the ass. The jersey has to come off.

I have not had good luck with cheap bibs. Cheap bibs fall apart and are not as comfortable. I wear Pearl Izumi ultra sensor bibs. Castellis are also decent.

can i get some with belt loops?

Why bibs?
- no elastic band digging into your waist
- no muffin top if you're fat
- no ass crack hanging out
- keeps the chamois in place

Why not bibs?
- ape-like torsos will need to find a pair that fit well or you'll feel compressed
- "dropping a duce" requires a bit of logistical planning
- more expensive than shorts

Let's put it this way, bibs are so comfortable (for me) that I don't ever plan on buying another pair of cycling shorts. Full zip jerseys (which I opt for whenever possible) all but negate the hassle of peeling a wet jersey off and getting it back on.

if i'm doing any kind of serious ride it's all i wear. i also find you pretty much get what you pay for. Castelli, Bergamo/Capoforma, Craft, Giordana, Descente all make nice bibs. If you want the best though, theres only one: Assos.
Bibs are like many other pieces of high end gear, you never knew you needed it till you tried it. (Chamois creme falls into the same category)

I don't know anything about bibs, but assuming they're just like cycling shorts except with suspenders instead of a belt, Castelli shorts have an excellent chamois. I love mine, and I intend to buy several more once I get a job. Perhaps I'll look into some bibs.

I think they leave a permanent "NJS" tattoo on your ass after you wear them!

What is with all the "dropping a deuce" talk. If I am going for a longer ride and the adreniline gets pumping, I never have the urge.

I bought a Pearl Izumi Bib from Nashbar for around 70-80, probably the BEST purchase I've made for riding. Just checked and they don't seem to have the one I bought

Before that, I used some $30 Nashbar shorts which were horrible, felt like I was wearing a diaper.

Last month I did a 660k ride over a series of days. Eventually, "the deuce" is bound to happen. When you're crouched in a bush on the side of a road or stuck in a sweltering port-o-john/toxic waste dump I suppose these things can become an issue.

ive started taking off it off to deuce just as practice so it feels normal

Naw man, it's good. It's like a return to nature. Strip free of those modern constraints. It's just you and your deuce.
