Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Another cyclist friend down... hit and run...

Another friend here in KC ( Eric Sharda )was hit by a black mustang doing 45-50 in a 25mph zone and failed to stop at a stop sign. He was T-boned and was pulverized... but still alive (barely) and has brain injuries to which he has lost the ability to speak..but is awake. Along with crushed arms ,legs, ribs and a hand. And what was described as a very deep wound in his chest, were part of the car was lodged.

So obviously a part of the car was left at the scene, and a few witnesses, so we have hopes they catch the *******.

He is 20 years old and no insurance. He worked at a local coffee house... if you are in KC there will be a small benefit for him to raise money to pay the hospital, I will be donating a bike to raffle off, if there is anyone out there with something they wish to donate to do the same let me know.

Something has got to be done, and soon. I am not sure I can bare to lose another person, let alone friend to sort of thing.

On another front, motorists are complaining and removing "Ghost bikes" because they feel it "has been up long enough" after a weeks time. KC is headed in the wrong direction....sigh.

This is sad to hear. Im sure people will say "the cyclist this and the driver that." It still comes down to certain people just being *******s.

I hope your buddy recovers.

Round up of a **** load of locks and lock that **** inplace! A week at least wait untill he's out of the hospital, alow it to server as a reminder to drivers, that maybe there cell phone conversation is'nt worth someones life, let alone blowing stop signs, All these hit and runs, thats one thing that disgusts me about the mentality to sue the **** out of anyone who does even remotely wrong to them. Where the first thought that runs someones head after they hit someone is O **** this is gona cost me $$$$$$$ instead of, **** i gota stop and help!, allthough people who speed badly and blow stop signs probably don't give a **** anyway,

That totally sucks, castration would be to good for this *******, Anychance that fund is gona be PayPal?/bank info for wire transfer

I would settle for a reasonable jail sentence. There are multiple people in Lewiston, Maine that have seriously injured cyclists due to negligence behind the wheel and they never saw so much as a day in prison.

Jesus. It's still ridiculous how many people are getting hit around KC. The entire place is getting insane.

Here's to hoping that the kid is OK in the long run. It's no fun getting hit, and it sounds like he got it a hell of a lot worse than I did. Let us know if there's anywhere that we can drop a donation.
