The Backside messenger bags

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/DSC_0002.jpg

I don't know much about this company, only that BF member Kemmer has acquired a fair amount of these bags and sold many to other members. They're pretty nice for the price, it would be worth checking out his thread if you're at all interested.

I really like mine so far. Anyone else have any experience with these bags?

Bushman 08-18-07 09:33 AM

mine is prolly stuck in Canada Customs, i'll post a review when i get it.

iamtim 08-18-07 09:34 AM

I just got mine yesterday; I should have gotten a large, but this one should suffice for my needs well. It seems very sturdy.

ryanlovesyou 08-18-07 12:02 PM

I got mine yesterday, can't argue with anything for the price. It seems to be well made, the only small gripe I have is that there is an abundance of extra strap on mine. That's something easily dealt with though and everything else seems pretty high quality. Its comfy, although I haven't done any long distances with it yet.

they look like exact knockoffs of Chrome bags. but with crappier webbing and buckles.

My friend said it was a "chrome clone".

Blickblocks, with those shoes and that helmet, you must be the brightest thing on the road.

I'm not so bright.

kirk 5k 08-18-07 02:47 PM

they are definitely chrome knock offs. but for 40 dollars who cares, theres a secret pocket on one of the bottom seams, just in case you didnt know

yup, chromes have those too. sound like exact rip-offs.

not to rain on anyone's parade, but we'll see how many of these are still kicking in 5+ years and then i'll be convinced that cheaping out on a mess. bag is worth it.

PanPanX 08-18-07 04:00 PM

I'm not exactly sure where to put this, but does anyone know where I can buy some of the hard polyester nylon tarp like materials for cheap? I have an old messenger bag thats starting to wear and I want to line the insides with it.

If mine only lasts 1 year that's only $40/year. If it lasts longer, great. If not, it's cheap enough that I'm not worried too much.

Granted, I am not a messenger, I just like the way a messenger bag feels when I ride better than I like the way a backpack feels.

cc700 08-18-07 04:36 PM

hmm... well i ordered one.

PunctualAlex 08-18-07 05:49 PM

I dunno man, $40 a year is a lot, I am hoping these hold out for a little longer than that...
Either way, my first messenger bag just gave out after 5 years of service and more patches and fixes than I care to count. this whole thing is perfect timing.

kemmer 08-18-07 11:28 PM

I would be surprised if they didn't hold up more year even under heavy use. It's kind of hard to say just by looking at them, but I have inspected about 40 of these so far and haven't noticed any quality issues. Aside from the webbing everything really does seem well constructed and beefy, including the shoulder padding.

If anyone has a problem with anything, please let me know. I wouldn't be selling them if I didn't think they were a good value and if it turns out they aren't I'll stop buying them.

filtersweep 08-19-07 02:49 AM

That is excellent! I truly hope they are. I didn't want to pay twice the price for a Chrome that I WILL wreck. I am a year-round commuter, and eventually I destroy all my gear--- especially biking all winter in the nonstop rain. Everything ends up grimy and stained with mud, oil, grease, grit, sand.

maybe wipe down your bike every night?:D:D:D:D

blickblocks 08-19-07 11:09 AM

I was looking around at the Chromes last night and I noticed that they had a small strip of webbing on the middle of the bag, right under the logo, meant for attaching a blinky. It's absent on these bags. :(

You guys ever seen these dome-shaped blinkies that have two loops and can be permanently sewn into the webbing? I'm assuming they're for life jackets because the one I saw looked waterproof.

Yah; it doesn't look like there is a blinky loop on these bags. FWIW it seems like my lights always fall off those or are difficult to see.. :( Still would be nice to have

kemmer 08-20-07 09:21 AM

I put mine on the flap strap. I did the same thing with my timbik2 and it seems to work pretty well. The only trouble is that you have to actually buckle your flap.

cc700 08-20-07 09:44 AM

my cateye has a little clip that can clip onto anything, really. most of the time it's on the bike anyway. going to check my mail, if it's come already i'll post back.

edit: nope, not yet. is there a tracking number? i didn't get a confirmation or anything.

cc700 08-23-07 11:52 AM

just picked it up from the mailroom.

nice, comfy. i haven't really used it loaded up or on the bike because i'm still recovering. don't get hit by cars, kids.
