AMEN! There is nothing more depressing than seeing the shoes you had in 5th grade being "reissued" and sold for like 200 bucks.
In fact, the other day I saw a kid rocking a reissue pair of Air Maxes that I owned in like 8th grade. Thanks for making me feel old, jerk.

That's something of a crock because those two options are not mutually exclusive.

I just converted my 71 Peugeot this past weekend. It took me no more than a few hours on Saturday and I was out practicing trackstands by the afternoon. Converting rocks. It's quick, easy (as long as you're not stupid), there's tons of info on the internets to help you out with the details and when you're done, you feel like you bike is really yours.

if you intend to run fenders, you'll probably want to convert. it'll make tire/tube changes, and gear changes if you run 2 in back, a lot easier. now, i'm absolutely certain that some FGF genius will point out that changing a tube on a track-ended frame with fenders is not only possible, but also will only take a few extra seconds of fiddling, etc. we all know that. but, it will be easier on semi-horizontal drops. plus, a converted frame'll more likely have bosses for fenders, which is helpful.

You don't even need to buy a new wheel if you run a "suicide hub" and run both a front and rear brakes.
If the braking on the bike is not good 1st try changing out the pad (Kool Stop Salmons)
