I second the recommendation of Juan's Flying Burrito. I've been there every time I visit my brother. The "gutter punk" burrito is awesome... standard veg burrito, but with seasoned potatoes.

And Chewy, I will respectfully disagree with you about the Quarter but also respectfully recognize the issue is one of perspective. You obviously look for something "cool" about the Quarter, and yet, the history, cuisine, architecture, etc. found in the Quarter transcend passing fancies of coolness. If your trip in November permits, try doing something different in the Quarter for a change . . . perhaps visit the Historic New Orleans Collection, for example.
BTW - good suggestion on Snakes. There are also many other similarly "cool" places to try. We have street cars here . . . not "trolley's" |
Chewy - No problem. I know several people who also hate the Quarter, presumably because of the scenes on Bourbon and lower Decatur. Also, I have been a grouch today for unrelated reasons and know better than take it out on the keyboard.
FYI - More good bets outside the Quarter (maybe you know about these): Camilla Grill is open and in some ways better than every before Audubon Park Golf Clubhouse - the Sunday brunch is a really good deal although I think the price just went up. Elizabeth's - in the Bywater, excellent place for breakfast and lunch Dive's outside the Quarter: Parasol's Brothers Three Le Bon Temps Henry's on Magazine Bulldog Carrollton Station Maple Leaf Nice places: Delachaise Columns Clancy's Have a great visit in November. |
