It's actually an ashtabula chainring that they somehow mated to the crankarm/spindle. I think it might just be square taper and not actually bolted on to anything (drive side crankarm keeps it in place).

If you were down the street I'd take you up on your offer, but as it is, don't worry about it. 'Preciate it though!

i like raleigh comfort bikes. they're great.

I had to switch the bars because I didn't realize that the mountain lever I was going to use was for V-Brakes...luckily the original riser bars allow me to use a regular road lever.

I tried doing a ghost chainring but it didn't take up enough slack. So I could try using a tensioner (lame) or use a half link. If there were a such thing as a quarter link, I'd have perfect chain tension, so maybe a half link isn't good enough?

thats the proper way of doing it, but just putting them over the lock nuts is fine until you are ready to overhaul the hub.

Actually I'd say quite the opposite. It's incredible how much standardization there is across the board, compared with other industries.

Besides, what's your point? The whole reason I'm doing this is because I have spare parts and trying to make it all work is fun.
