Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Renting in Montreal?

I'm going to be in Montreal for a conference next weekend and was wondering if anybody knows a place downtown to rent a bike (doesn't have to be fixed) for the day. I've got all day free on Saturday and would love to ride around a bit.

(and if anybody wants to hear an incredibly boring paper about contraband control in 19th-century Nicaragua, I can give you all the thrilling details)

Close to downtown, unless you'll be all the way in the west. But these guys have gotten good reviews. For a map: https://www.legrandcycle.com/english/contact.htm

Thanks Bexley!

Great pic Mander, I'd like to think my friends would give me the same send off.

Bikes: never enough

what size bike do you ride?

EDIT:
i also think theres a race this saturday...you should stop by belleville bike co-op...its the only bike shop downtown thats worth a damn. but they will know if theres a race going on and when it will be, if its "Beat the Main" its a day-time (usually) race that starts at the bottom of the island and goes to the top along St. Laurent.

My bikes are a 54 and 56. My girlfriend is coming up with me and is about the same size.

Bellville sounds like a cool shop, but we'll probably be riding on Saturday, so it might not work. Thanks though!
