I think he was discouraging the drop bars on a fixie. Keep the bars, but get a hacksaw. C'mon, all the cool kids are doin' it! You DO, wanna be cool don't you?

(pout face) yea yea...i wanna be cool..
to be honest, i just have to make it over to my sisters to get my pipe-cutter.
i actually really like and prefer the look of the drop bars though.

here's a question for ya..
how do those of you that run strait (and narrow as hell) bars get any kind of climbing leverage????

its actually super comfy, but only because 75% of the time i'm up on the flats, unless i'm climbing, in which case i'm on the top of the drops. <that angle is awesome for climbing in my opinion.
i dont know...
i've just always tuned my bikes to the 'feels good' standard of angles.
thats the idea right?

I don't get those bars either, but can see how they'd be necessary. First off, they close up the chest cavity so you'd lose your wind very quickly. But, for the city folk, you're cruising through traffic inches from cars... the more narrow the better. I dig the bullhorn look myself.

Depends where you live too as far as bar width goes. I ride flat bars cut to 16" and they are great for avoiding car's mirrors. Here in chicago though, there really arent any real hills so the lack of leverage is a moot point.

You have an empty bottle of alcohol sitting on your floor. Put that thing in the recycling bin. lol

Is that a bong in front of your couch?

Why would anyone discourage drops bars on a "fixie"? Makes no sense to me at all.
