Rapha

For anyone with deep pockets, Rapha is on sale here but given the prices it ain't that much of a sale...

Cyclist0383 09-05-07 05:53 AM

I think the fact that so many items are on sale just goes to show that the average cyclists has enough common sense not to spend $140 on cycling gloves or $40 on a cycling cap.

mander 09-05-07 09:23 AM

That $180 rider's journal made me LOL.

9Rings 09-05-07 09:30 AM

The $56 fixed T-shirt is a great bargain. It's normally $70.

So cool...so cool...

mander 09-05-07 09:35 AM

I must admit their cycling cap is kinda tempting. Does anyone know of other manufacturers who make logo free solid colour caps?

dobber 09-05-07 09:37 AM

I'm thinking "The Riddle" might want to look at those Rapha Leather Grand Tour Mitts

deathhare 09-05-07 09:42 AM

hilarious crap

I can't remember the web address I *think* it is http://smeear.co.uk. If not head over to http://www.londonfgss.com/ and look for smeer or RJM(thisisrob) they will do hand made caps to order check out his flikr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/smeear/ . I am sure they will post over to the states if you ask. Tell him TheBrick or Tommy sent you to him so if he gets lotts of orders from here he can give me a reduced price hat ;) . I know these are not solid colour but just ask him for solid colour.

www.walzcyclingcaps.com

Their prices have skyrocketed in the last year or so though. I think they're up to 11 or 12 bucks a cap now.

Looks great, thanks CrushKill! Does anyone with a really huge head (mine is 24") have experience with those caps? 24" is right at the top of their quoted range so i worry that the cap may hot come down far enough.

Thanks too TheBrick, I will keep them in mind after i move out to the uk in January.

I have a pretty big head (wear a large - xtra large helmet) and got one of the walz caps. It fits but as my wife puts it: 'It makes you look a lot dumber than you are' or 'Wow, you look like a pinhead!'. It also wants to migrate to the top of my head because I am straining it so it does look pretty dumb and it won't stay put. My kid wears it now (he inherited the big noggin).

+1

WTF is wrong with people? Who is that ********&rich at the same time, to drop ($230) $184 for a freakin' notebook?

I guess it's the same kind of jerkoff that would spend $20.000 for a night in a suite in the Burj al Arab in Dubai.

Walz will make a larger hat for you if you email them - at least they would as of about six months ago.

I don't have a huge head, just a large one 22.5'ish and their "one size fits all cap was too small for me. So I ordered a larger one and that one is a bit loose.

me too. I don't know what I could possibly have to put in a journal that would be worth $180.

US$230 RRP for a notepad?

'****-ha'

C Law 09-07-07 09:21 AM

not a notepad. A riders journal.

MIN 09-07-07 10:50 AM

The notepad and "training bags" are gimmicks - for sure. But their jerseys and shorts prices aren't out of a line with Assos and other "premium" brands.

Exactly how does the existence of other rip-off companies validate the prices of this rip-off company?

You don't spend much time in the road forum, I take it. A 'rip off' is subjective: if you want the best cycling clothes money can buy (where money is no object) then Assos and Rapha are it. If you don't like it, then don't by it. It's by nature a small niche group and that's why the pricing is exclusionary. If everyone rode NJS Bridgestones like you do then there would be no bling factor associated with ownership. Similarly, consumers for high end cycling apparel want to be distinguished from the guy who is wearing a $25 Nashbar jersey.

The few Rapha things I've picked up over the years have been great. If I made more money, I'd buy more.

Youre right, i dont spend time in the road forum. Should i?
I dont ride a Bridgestone. I sold that on ebay. :)
Maybe i should stop paying rent and buy some Rapha clothes. :)
