Can I use a single speed on a Trainer
Typically, most stationary trainers clamp onto the rear wheel - by way of the quick-release "end knobs"
But...... I called two manufactures and they could not answer the following question (both cycleops and balckburn)
Will a bolt on rear wheel, where there is a nut and axle (like on a fixie or single) fit into the stationary trainer clamp. The two arms that clamp on. Will those cup arms fit over the nut of a fixed or single speed?
Like the picture below
Thank you for time and help

& get adjustable resistance
This is probably obvious, be certain to get a trainer with adjustable resistance. It would be most convenient if you get one that is adjustable while using the trainer.

rollers are good for form, trainers are good for strength and both will work with a single speed.

Check out the 1-Up. The axle holders are straight conical and work magnificently with regular track nuts. And if you have a Phil Wood rear, and you get the Kiss-Off conical axle washers, they are exactly the same size as the axle holders so you get a rock-steady mounting.
