sounds like you stripped your rear hub, or your lockring is loose and the cog starts to spin backward. take it to a bike shop and have them look at it if you don't know what is wrong.

get a brake

maybe the threads on your hub stripped?

try taking the cog off the hub and inspect the threading on the hub and cog.

Ummm I think you stripped your rear hub. LOL. Not that the stripping your rear hub is funny but that everyone is saying the same thing at the same time.

Could be stripped, or maybe you just need to learn how to use your space bar.

could be your bottom bracket, I had that problem. just try to put enough pressure on the pedals to make it slip while you watch the drive train. You'll be able to see what the problem is. Also, I read in another thread that you can get some extra use from a stripped hub if you use JB Weld, guess that depends on how big your go-nads are though.

maybe your space bar is lodged somewhere in there. Just take it all apart and find it then you'll be good

If the drivetrain slips, but then works, it's probably not stripped - it's more likely that the lockring is loose. If it were stripped, you'd expect it to keep spinning.

Depends how stripped, often only a few threads strip and then other threads catch it. Take the cog and lockring off and inspect it, if it's not stripped then put the cog on as tight as you can, mash up a hill, and then put the lockring on as tight as you can.

Lemme guess, it's a stock Kilo TT rear wheel? And you're riding with no brakes?

...and also to the ******s who ignored the question and focused on my girlfriend's janky keyboard.

the drivetrain didn't slip at all on the way home this morning, and i did a trackstand and rode up a nice big hill with no slippage at all. really not totally sure whats going on here.

Definitely get in there with the lockring tool at minimum. If it's not slipping now, then it's reasonably sure that it's not stripped. It suggests you've pedalled hard enough to get it wedged nicely, but you really really need to snug that lockring up tight, or the next hard stop might strip it.

I didn't see anybody hating on you because you mention fixed, but post 1-4 actually tell you what the problem might be. You are in the SS/FG subforum did you know that? We only hate on you when you post conversions with disk wheels and tell us that it is the best damn thing for riding on the street.

To answer your only question in your original post. No your BB is not broken, but you could always pull it apart and check. Doesn't really seem like it would be the cause for the problem you are describing since your problem seems to becoming from your rear wheel.

See that option under your post ..... [edit]

You can use it for all kinds of wonderful things.

Shouldn't that revert back to Person 1, or did a third person enter into the conversation?

The trick to reading SSFG is to skip every thrid post since one in three people here are either completely ******** or compete *******s. Good luck.

The reason you aren't slipping anymore is that your cog has tightened itself on nice and tight. I hope you have a brake because I'm betting your lockring is not on tight. If there are any lockring threads left, they'll probably strip the next time you put enough backpressure on that cog to unthread it. Seriously, take your bike to a shop and have the lockring checked out before you do more damage/kill yourself.
