Bikes: Masi Speciale Fixed, Surly 1x1, 2 70's Bianchi folders, Swingbike, Columbia Cruiser 3 spd, Specialized Big Hit and P.2, Cove G-Spot, Xtracycled Bianchi San Jose.

Any bike can be converted. It's more a question of what you are willing to do to get it there. With the smoke your options would be
a)possibly a magic gear
b) eno eccentric rear hub
c) aftermarket eccentric bb
d) tensioner
any reason for going specifically with the smoke?

Was looking for a steel bike for winter town duties.

Just look for an old CrMo mountain bike on craigslist/whatever you have in the UK. SS it using the derailleur as a tensioner. No point in dropping a bunch of money on an entry level Kona just to throw even more money into it.

Anyone who tells you to buy a million dollar rear hub for a $300 bike is insane.
