Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? My next conversion project.

Tonight I bought a Dynacraft Triax Crimson purchased for $37.48 at Target. Sure it's garbage, but for the price it can make a fun beater fixie if I don't invest too much money in it. For less than forty bucks, I got an aluminum frame with looooooong horizontal drops and a seven speed freewheel...not a cassette. A little Locktite, cog and BB lockring, and I'm in business.

Mine's like this, but with even more fugly decals.

$37.48 is crazy good! Tell us more about the bike. I'd even just ride that as a super cheap, geared beater.

I've seen that bike at Target, but I remember it being sold for around 100 dollars. How did you get it marked down to under 40?!

The Tagets near me still have a few. I'll bet by next week they're around $20.

Oh...the BB is complete sh*t. Cross-threaded cups, bound-up bearings and almost a smudge of grease in there. I ended up installing a sealed Truvativ unit from my parts bin.

Anybody need brake levers? The ones that came on it aren't actually terrible, I'm just not using them. I'll trade them out for a couple bucks...seriously...just enough to pay for postage and maybe a cup of coffee.

The bike is absolute crap...but what would you expect? Steel cranks, steel bars, steel stem...trash, but like all garbage, it is disposable.

If you stay wound a bit longer you'll find that steel bars and stem are quite popular here.

I don't care how bad that bike is, the price is nuts. That thing and all its parts were likely transported over oceans and still it costs about as much as a mediocre tire.

Bikes: so many

Haha: https://www.bikeforums.net/singlespeed-fixed-gear/346654-haha-37-target-bike-loctite-d-ebay.html

They aren't all bad if they're anything like the Denali. Cigtech commuted for months on one and posted the results over in commuting.

With a Shimano BMX freewheel this thing would actually be pretty decent to give to a friend. $50 total and about a half hours worth of work.

Does anyone happen to know the bar code number or any kind of number that could be used to track down one of these bikes. I have called all the targets in my area and none of them have this bike and it is still listed online for 149.95. Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Exactly. I wouldn't give it as a suicide fix to anyone I like. But a cheap freewheel would be perect.

I opted to go fixed on mine because I have great life insurance and no one but me will be riding it.
