There is a nice flat trail here that is 7-8 miles there *to the next town* and back. I was wondering what would be a fast time for riding that far.

I usually average about 60 mph, so it would take me fifteen minutes. 18 minutes if I stop at 7-11 for a chili dog.

I suppose it depends on how straight it is too. I'd agree with the 40-45 minutes or so.

the math'd say 45-ish....maybe less if i wanna push it, but 18-20 is a comfortable pace for me, judging by a couple times drivers have slowed down to tell me my speed.

Town "A" and Town "B" are 7.78 miles apart. A hipster leaves town "A" traveling at 16.5mph on an Aerospoke equipped Schwinn Varsity fixed conversion. Five minutes later a lycra clad roadie wearing white cotton socks leaves town "B" on a Lemond Propad equipped with aero-bars traveling at 26.55 kph. When they meet, which one looks like the bigger tool?

I do a 14.5 mile ride around here with light hills. It takes me about 40 minutes by myself, and a little more than an hour when I am with a group; we all have varying types of bicycles.

My commute is something like that and when I am tired and not motivated at the end of the day your distance might take me an hour and 15 minutes. Unloaded, on a weekend and with several pretty girls ahead of me about 40 minutes.

My 26 km commute (that's around 15 miles) takes 55 minutes if I hustle, and 1:05 at a more leisurely pace. I would love to increase my average but I'm not sure how... intervals? run more red lights? EPO?

It takes me usually just under 45 minutes in the middle of the night with no traffic, not pushing it too hard.

Interesting info guys. If I were to stage a race on this path (I might be planning this lol) how likely do you think it would be that someone could average 30mph?

Also, a friend of mine says he could do it in around 40 minutes if he wanted to, and he's been riding for a while and he's pretty strong.

if it's a nice flat, paved bike trail i would say you might get there in less than fourty-five minutes.
