i've had both. the steel/steel is definitely heavy. i switched to aluminum bars and the front end of my bike was noticeably lighter and more responsive. i would certainly recommend that you go aluminum bars if you run the steel jag stem. it's definitely the premium stem/bar combo of this type

aluminum bars are a HUGE improvement in feel while riding.

Other than style, why the love for Deep V's on this forum? They are heavy, not sufficiently aero and harsh riding for the street.

BTW what frame are these parts going on? The frame and wheels are the core of any build, spend wisely there.

why the team pro over the swift? for that matter, did you consider the arione (or other 'modern' design saddle)? your seatpost choice could be based on two-bolt adjustment, setback, and clamp style over aesthetics, in which case the nitto or thomson is a worthwhile choice.

+1 on RR1.2s if you decide you need a deep-section rim, but as far as i know they only come in black with a machined sidewall.

if the 123's are the shallow drop ones then that's what i'd get. i'd get the cheaper Al stem instead of steel and get the AL bars too, i like bars to be responsive, not dead. 34cm is waayyyyyy too narrow.

But they're right about almost everything.. they make bars 34cm wide? I hope that was a typo, you certainly don't want bars that narrow.

1/8" drivetrain will be ideally be little smoother and more efficient, 3/32" will ideally be quieter and stronger. In practicality, you probably won't notice the difference in smoothness, and unless you get the right cog and chain (PC-68 and EAI worked wonders for me), then it might not be too quiet. And you probably know all the issues with chainring abundance, so I won't go into that.

I would definitely reconsider the rims. They're 500g each! That's more than two pounds in your rims alone! They are very tough though, although you can get lighter rims that are also tough. Phils are sweet, don't let anyone put down your Phils. But if you really want to slurge, get LeVeL hubs.. Hubjub has them.

And really, no need for the steel/chrome nonsense. You can get polished aluminum that's almost as shiny without the weight (and price) penalty. As others have said, Al rides a little nicer in the front end.

Either way, you'll build a sweet bike. I wouldn't be criticizing if you didn't ask for it :p Now all you need is a new frame...

It's the "Kehoe" pedals that cost $1100. On average they make you go 60-70% faster! You gotta try them to believe them!

there I fixed it made it more suitable for daily riding however the bars mm maybe b-125s since I am assuming this bike will never see a track hell it will probably end up locked up outside of a starbucks or hip bar trolling for chicks

and if hes running a 48 front and a 17 rear cog I thought that was more skid patches than if you ran 47 /17
