Splurging... on everything

Tell me if I miss anything:

Crank/BB = Sugino 75 (Silver)
Chainring = Sugino Zen 48t
Chain = Izumi model V Super Toughness
Cog = EAI Superstar 15t and 17t (one for whatever, one for going fast)
Stem = Nitto (Chrome/Steel) Jaguar 100mm
Bars = Nitto (Chrome/Steel) B-123 34cm
Pedals = MKS Custom Nuevo
Toe Straps = Toshi Double (Red)
Saddle = Brooks Team Pro (Chrome/Honey) I know, it sort of clashes...
Hubs = Phil Wood
Wheels = Velocity Deep V (Red)
Fork = 1" Threaded Spicer Crowned

I have thought about getting the Nitto Jaguar seatpost as well, but since it would be the purely asthetic purchase (I'm not nearly enough rider to need or notice that) I think I'm going to pass. So, save for the frame and the stock seatpost, I'm upgrading everything. I'm going to have a bad ass pista.

Just about everything on your list is a purely aesthetic purchase, so you might as well go with the seatpost too......

Not true. I would totally notice a quieter drivetrain, feel the different saddle, appreciate the drop of the new stem (and the bars I have won't fit it), be grateful for the security of good straps and ground clearance of the new pedals and shorter crank arms, benefit from the bomp-proffness of new wheels/hubs, and the new fork is needed for the new stem. So, the seatpost is the only thing that is only asthetic. While the choices above may have asthetics in mind, that's not the sole purpose. But **** it, it'll be bad ass.

The only thing I'm not 100% set on is getting the alloy vs. chrome version of the stem and bars. I don't want to mix and match and I love the look of the chrome but I'm wondering how much difference it will make in the feel of the bike with the weight. Any experience you'd care to share?

You won't notice the difference between a standard B-17 and higher end Team Pro.

An expensive track crank is no quieter than a cheaper single speed crank, which of course come in 165mm length. My IRO crank, EAI cog, and SRAM PC-68 chain are dead quite.

I ride every day on Formula hubs laced to Open Pro rims over nasty cobblestone streets. I weigh 85kg and usually have an additional 12kg pannier on my rear rack. My hubs are smooth and have yet to explode.

As for stems I've can't tell the difference between a cheap one and an expensive one as I don't race professionally, I ride in the city. That being said I use a Nitto stem as it lets me have my bars higher.

Do whatever you want, but it sounds to me like you've drunken the Kool-Aid as far as thinking that high-end track specific parts will make a difference when riding on the road. They won't, although they do make a difference for the experienced racer in a velodrome.

They are definitely different saddles. Most people are going to tend to notice saddle differences more than, say, the difference between two decent quality hubs.

Anyway... This is by far the silliest thread in a while. I'm glad I could participate.

While the Team Pro is slightly narrower than the B-17 (one cm to be exact), I highly doubt many of us could tell the difference between the two saddles. It also costs twice as much as the B-17, which I'm guessing is why the OP thinks it will be better.

Leather on the Team Pro is also thicker. As far as the OP's motives go, I have a hard time believing any of this is serious.

I usually swap out the stock seatpost first. Really.

You're spending that much on parts, and dropping them onto a Pista frame?
I smell a little bit of irony. But just a little.

(I'd consider trading a limb for a set of Phil/V's, though. )

Bikes: tirove

that's a **** load of money on things that aren't going to make it ride much better... the hubs crank and saddle will be nice but jeez. that's seriously so much money.

deep Vs aren't up to par, you need an aerospoke and a mavic cxp22.

and i'd get a thompson seatpost and carbon fork if i was dropping that kind of cash.
and if you're spending money might as well get a pista concept frame to put it on.

not only that but the fork, stem, headset and handlebars are a downgrade.

You say that the fancy stem will get your bars lower but there are plenty of threadless for under $30 that will do the same.
And do you even need the bars lower?
Are B-123s serving any purpose other then aesthetics?
If it is even a good bar stem setup why would you get a brooks to go with it?
MKS custom nuevos? Are you using cleats?
DeepVs?
Phils?

Ziemas is right. If this isn't a joke it has nothing to do with performance or differences you'll notice(in a good way) and everything to do with putting the hippest parts on you're bike.

But aerospokes are one backorder and cxp22s only come in 2 colors! (not to mention they're cheaper than the deep V's, all the less reason to buy them...)
