So Tired of Dealing with Craigslist

I'm really getting sick of trying to buy stuff on craigs. obviously, this was too good of a deal to get away with ($3000 Frameset), but still. it never works out for me.
here's the ad:
https://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/bik/450494311.html
seems ok. weird to sell it for so cheap, but it's worth a inquiry...
here's the response:

Hello,

I am glad you want to purchase my item.I want to let you know that is brand new in original sealed box with all the parts and accessories included. I have attached a pics.

Now, I am out of NY. I am in London.

Look how we will make the deal for our protection:

- You will make the payment by Western Union to my location from London but not to my name (you will use your best friends or wife name for example as receiver's name) so you can be sure that I will not pick up the money until you get the product; so you make a transfer at Western Union and you will give me the transfer's details (SENDER'S NAME AND ADDRESS, RECEIVER'S NAME, MTCN) so I can check that the transfer was made. After I verify it you will get the item in max 3 days by DHL.

- Only after you will receive the product and check it, you will have to change the receiver's name of the transfer to my name so I can collect my money.

Please let me know your answer and send me your full name and your full shipping address, and I will provide you my full name and full address for payment.

Thank you!
do people actually go for this stuff?

At least you're getting the entertainment value of being scammed. People in the Boston area are just too dumb to use craigslist.

www.419eater.com has forums where people take the info from those ads, and mess with the scammers. some of their exploits are pretty damn funny, and on occasion, at least one of them has convinced the scammer to send them money...which is then donated to charity.

Too late. I already sent him a cashier's check. I accidentally wrote it out for like $500 too much, but he agreed to return the cash to me with the product.

And for a serious answer, I can't decide if I love CL or hate it. There's tons of idiots that barely know how to use a computer, but you can OCCASIONALLY find a good deal on there.

you'd be more tired of craigslist if you tried to sell on it with any sort of frequency.

nothing that hasn't been said before but **** I cannot stand the average CL buyer

Werd. I was selling a trek 6000 with a crap ton of upgrades for $450. A guy emailed me and asked if I'd take 150. I responded with a somewhat polite hell no. He finally agrees to buy it for $400 and comes out to test ride it. Takes it for a 45 minute spin, comes back and says that all he can give me is the 150 he first offered. I kindly told him to get lost and ended up eBaying it for 5 bills.

And NEVER advertise your garage sale on CL. Then they all come out at once.

New York CL is the worst. I usually write something like this before anything else:

"Price is Firm. Offer 1 penny less and the answer is NO."

Surprisingly people pay attention, but then again, I try and set my price to be very reasonable to begin with which is usually not the case, witness the huge number of $500-$600 Bianchi Pistas that pop up all the time.

The only thing that works on CL is the free section. it doesn't matter what you post on there, it will be gone in five seconds.

Craigslist isn't all bad, you just have to deal locally and make sure you don't venture to far out of your way. I just picked up a fixer upper for $35 sometimes last week.

Oh and I also picked up some awesome urine too! Guy threw it in for free!

It´s not only the buyers who are weird, the sellers can be as well sometimes haha.
If you are looking for an alternative site to sell/buy stuff I recommend this (which I´m using frequently myself )http//:www.americanlisted.com
Easy to find things in your own neighborhood.
