i feel the exact same way a about my chrome bag. I almost want to sew in some more inner pockets, but i dont want to mess up any of the waterproofedness...

how does one order the seagull black bag? There was a whole thread on it when people got theirs but no one mentioned what size bag it was.

Search in recent threads, but I think Dan (Seagull) is pretty backed up right now. I'm getting the impression that most of the 1-2 person shops are backed up right now to the point of not even answering email very often.

If I were getting a bag right now I'd get kemmer's rig for a single strap bag (full disclosure: I don't like this style and I've never seen one that I thought did better than 2 out of 3 on design, materials, and construction) or the chrome rolltop for a backpack (it has some mistakes but they're the only company that is at least trying to innovate).

Also, you could always skip all of this BS and just get panniers, they will change how you look at riding with cargo I promise.

Hey guys, I am pumping out bags at record rates. thanks to everyones interest and support we are now a shop of six people! I should be able to answer all of your questions within two days. Just a quick note, christmas is coming soon, so you may want to get orders in. Also, I will not be taking any new orders in January '08. We are redoing our store front, new webstie, and launching 8 new bag designs (including 3 sizes of Black bags!, and 3 crazy complicated bags.) Thanks again for all of your support. I really appreciate it.

Hey Dan. You got back to me in e-mail today, I was asking about the black bag. If I ordered the bag today, how long do you think it would be until I had it? I'm sure others are wondering the same thing.

Thanks

If you are in baltimore, and you want to try a bailey works, you can take a quick trip down to college park and come to proteus. we are a bailey works dealer.

I have a really old (pre-seatbelt buckle) chrome. it's ok. I have never used a reload. I like the bailey works, but the last thing I need is another messengerbag.

get a r.e.load.
awesome bags.

just don't get the deluxe/courier unless you think you REALLY REALLY need it.
i got a deluxe for christmas, and while it's great for hauling loads of stuff it's actually pretty impractical for day-to-day use, i.e. riding to class, work, around town.

and it's heavy... but that just means it's ULTRA bombproof. i've been using mine every day since january and it's still in practically mint condition (minus how dirty the light-colored parts are).

i had a chrome citizen, needed more space and got a custom r.e.load courier. nice folks, quality sewing, but in the end too big and just not as comfortable as the chrome. sold it and got a chrome metropolis and couldn't be happier. the size is just right and it carries really well.

Get the padded messenger pad. That comes standard on the Deluxe and makes a huge difference in comfort. The Civilian should be plenty big for everyday stuff.

I use my Metropolis for everyday stuff, and today it was full with 2 textbooks, macbook, lunchbag, and lock.

I really like my Reload Small Civilian...I think it's bigger than it looks online, and I can carry multiple textbooks and a sweatshirt no problem. The only complaint I have is the strap...while it's obviously strong, it's stiff, uncomfortable and hard to adjust. Everyone says it's supposed to loosen up over time though so hopefully it won't be a problem for long.

I would have liked to have gotten a Freight or a Chrome, but Chrome is just so played out in general, and already a few of my friends have Freights. I really like center-break strap design, it's so much easier than having to put the bag over your head every time you want to take it off.

If money were no object I'd get the new Freitag messenger
