It seems that the design of the nose of the saddle is the limiting factor, not the width. A big saddle to bar drop requires a forward tilt of the pelvis, which others are saying is difficult on the B17 due to the pronounced nose of the B17.

I just put my B17 on my Rush Hour and went for about a 10 mile ride. First off, the saddle only has about 200 miles on it so its not broke in well. Since its not broke in yet, I still slide on it some. That means I have to tilt it upward slightly to keep my wrists from killing me. Now that the saddle is raised a little bit, I can feel a bit of the pressure near the boys. So hopefully it will break in a bit so I can adjust the saddle angle to level.

Here is everyone, telling you to get a professional. When I said I wanted a professional everyone was all "yer teh stoopid, only spending money for bling's sake." I have a lot of StB drop, and riding with the nose slightly angled upward is very comfortable for me.

I'm very happy with my Professional. The skirts have been mildly trimmed.

I believe those are either Nashbar or Cinelli solid tan cork tape. The dirtier they get, the better they look...

I just ordered Nashbar's 'natural' cork tape to match my Brooks. I don't think it's that light, but I'll find out in a few days.

you can get a womens version of the professional it has a shorter nose than the normal version

the nose length of the B17 is what makes it uncomfortable when trying to get in the drops

but to the OP
you'll probably be fine since you are running bullhorns
if try to run drops and a B17 on that bike it will not be too comfy

i used to roll like this a few years back

it was fine, and that is the seat angle i ended up at. however i spent very little time in the drops; as i said for the track it is not the way i would go

Thank, this is an awesome classic loop to ride, just minutes north of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Mountains, leading up to Mt Baldy. The ride up isn't so bad if geared properly, about 70 inches, but the long descents can be miserable...
These canyon roads are closed at the moment (even to cyclists) due to the current fire danger but should re-open soon.

I'm a big fan of the B17 (I have 3 of them) and I have a decent bit of S-B drop (~8"). I didn't really feel any discomfort until after a few hours or riding or if I was doing a LOT of hard riding in the drops (trying to keep up with my work's roadie group). I've angled the nose down slightly since the below picture and it has made it a lot more comfortable but now when I'm upright or if I swap bars to my risers, flatbar or bullhorns I feel like the angle is putting more pressure on my wrists and that starts to irritate me after a while. This bike is currently running a while selle rolls, which has a much nicer nose for riding in the drops. I still prefer the overall feel of the Brooks.

you said it was fine i wouldn't call not being able to use the drops "fine"
i would call that set up on your pista downright ****ty and ill fitting
but everyone makes mistakes
your don walker looks like it is set up much better

oh christ a n00b version of dutret.

i didn't say i COULDN'T use the drops. i said the set-up was fine but that was because i WASN'T using the drops. The saddle was great - comfortable over long distances, supportive, etc - for the way I preferred to ride, which was with my hands on the flats. as i pointed out, for riding in the drops for protracted periods it would not have been my choice.

and your don walker doesn't have a brooks on it.....because

a brooks B17 on a track bike is a mistake

the bar angle on your DW is also a mistake but at least you've come a long way
