Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? since you feel the need to pollute this thread I see nothing wrong with doing so myself.

Insisting that you have complete control of a thread and that others can't post what they want in it is just simply not how bulletin boards work. To try to assert such control is a ******* move and if DW tried to dictate how bulletin boards should work anywhere else he would probably be met with the same respose. That DW is a thin skinned blowhard who only seems to post so that he can bask in the adulation of his fans and has in the past taken part is such childish histrionics as demanding that every post he made be deleted basically assures that outcome. You too come off like an ass for name calling and acting like you've never been on the internet before in your life.

I think I agree that ANYone who posts here is likely to get a dose of aggravation, and builders would be likely to get more. That's not a good thing, and it's the main thing I don't like about this forum. I do think, however, that responding to Don's lug thread with pics of other lugged frames you like is completely appropriate, unless you're doing it just to wind him up. I've posted pics on one of these threads before, with no intention to cause upset, and been castigated. I've also seen Don be pretty, uh, direct with people in other threads who weren't being annoying.

I think it's six and two threes here. You can't expect to come to a discussion forum, and dictate what will be posted in your thread. We come to this forum to talk about bikes, not to be lectured about bikes. I respect Don's desire to promote his show, and other people's work, but doing that in a structured way, with nobody interrupting is just not what this medium is for. Don's reactions to people doing what is, in fact, entirely appropriate, that is to say replying with on topic posts and pictures (of pretty lugs) to a thread entitled "Lug shot of the day" is what has won him some, shall we say, enemies. Now, those people are being idiots, for sure, and should quit it, but let's not pretend that there's not a bit of fault the other way too. Don is, genuinely, demanding (rather than asking) something that's a bit unreasonable, and is far from the most polite or politic person to ever post here.

the difference is DW is an ass who left before and demanded all his posts be deleted. If I was a mod I wouldn't have done that and if I had I would immediately ban any future account made claiming to be DW. DW is the provocateur here who flew off the handle when other reasonably posted pics in this thread. That he is met in kind should not be surprising.

i think a better titled thread would be good for this sort of thread maybe something along the lines of "della santa lug appreciation thread" then maybe it would cut down on the other posts with lugs from other builders if that is what DW wants.

I really appreciate these thread by the way

incorrect.

Random bikes of which the poster has no knowledge of, and of which have no lugs (!) is not on topic. Flamewars because you percieve someone as having an "attitude" (oh, my bleeding heart is broken!) is not on topic.

If I can keep a "Kaiju Shot O' The Day" post about giant monsters on topic (it wasn't easy), then DW should be able to do what he does. Again, I say we are missing out due to douchnozzles and ass shats needing affection and attention . He (DW) would eventually attact other builders here, and we all would benefit and learn something. I know I've already learned a bunch from the good ol' days.

Dutret, honey...I'm sure once this blows over you will once again be the target of the hate-filled vitriol that seems to get you through a boring workweek. Don't fret darling. You will get your spot back, I promise.

hahha!! This reminds me years ago a group of students entered a bus and continued a pretty profane discussion, and then one of them noticed there were some girls inside and commented something to the effect of "Hey guys, moderate your language, there are p*ssies here!"

I think we should definitely laugh at ourselves. It's the healthiest life philosophy.

When did you get this bitter? You used to be a laid-back dude, fun to talk to, calm yet assertive; a people's person.

I haven't changed. Don't take this out of context. My mood is, frankly speaking...quite lovely.

Oh, I see...I neglected to take the "bitterness filter" of my BFSSFG browser settings.

Damn you V-Bulletin!! *shakes baby sized fist*

Read my other posts in my post-history. I post in other forums A LOT. And yes, I'm a laid back dude. Thanks for noticing.--this is the "assertive" part you were mentioning. I'm just fighting for content here babe, nothing more, nothing less. It could be from DW, ATMO, Sheldon or whoever...I just respect my elders, that's all. That's how I learn dynamically. It's a unique priveledge, and we should respect that.

I remember the Serendipper from back when you had the boxing dude in the avatar (and before that, too) - I don't even recognize whom you have become. That monkey looks almost evil (not because it is evil, but because I mentally make the association with you). You didn't call everyone "babe" back then......

Sorry, I have heavy hands.

My intention wasnot to fan the flames, but to steer things back on track. *shrugs* I thought you guys liked tracks, being that you ride track bikes and all.

My work here is done, but I will remain vigilant, as always. I love teh bicycles, and I will fight for their virtue goddammit!
