This is the best time of year for micros! Currently have Pyramid SnowCap and Sierra Nevada Celebration in the fridge. Looking forward to Deschutes Jubelale, Bridgeport Ebeneezer, and a bunch of WA holiday beers at the Winter Brew Fest later this month. We just brewed our first batch of winter ale yesterday so looking forward to that of course as well.

And for the record, the term micro is no longer used, it's now creft brewery, and yes Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams qualify. Sierra Nevada started the microbrew revolution. And Guiness is a dark colored session beer at best.

lately I've been drinking a lot of this beer Leinkugel (I think?) summer wheat. It's pretty good. Tastes sort of like fruity pebbles strangely enough...but is still really good.

Some fine brews have been mentioned and there is nothing wrong with Gunniess or SA. They are fine gateway beers to truly great craft beers.

Has anyone tried Dogfish Head's Punkin Ale? I'm thinking one with Thanksgiving Dinner would be amazing...

+2 on whoever mentioned that this is the best season for microbrews. Winter ales take precedence over everything else, gotta love a good dark alcoholic winter beer. Bridgeport Ebeenezer reminds me of winters past, good beer and good times. Widmer Snow Plow is another good one, not sure if/when it's out this winter, and like I said earlier Alaskan Winter Ale is amazing.

that is indeed delicious but at $15 / 6 pack, i think it's a tad over priced. i honestly like Stones IPA equally as much which is still pricey but not that brutal. i guess the ruination bombers aren't too bad cost wise.

i'm also a fan of heavy hop flavor. i like having to warn my friends that the taste may be a little stronger than what they're accustomed to. :D

i forgot all about this! i drank a lot of it last year. it's a seasonal, right? is it back on the shelves? i'm going to have to look for it. it's a very smooth, nice brew.

I was recommended the seasonal Magic Hat Roxy Rolles (worst name ever) as a hop fanatic who likes complex beers - he's specifically recommended it because they were out of Two Hearted Ale, it was fresh, seasonal and limited.

Very nice - balance, toasty and malty without being sweet, spicy smelling rather than floral or citrus, but with a nice hop finish that's crisp.

Sigh.

Ruination is a great beer. Here it is $12.49 a 6pk, $4.49 a bomber. That results in a lower price as a 6pk. Stone IPA is $6.99, which is why that is my regular beer and Ruination the occasional.

You should like Sierra Nevada Harvest Ale. It is just as much wonderful surprise as SA Imp Pilsner.
Those two are the only beers from SN and SA I've really liked.

killer prices! my local shop is a bit expensive, admittedly.. but it's local.. i can even ride my bike there. :D

the 6 pack of ruination is $14.99 and the IPA is $8.99 here. i forget what the bomber costs as i've only gotten 1 or 2 of them.

i did pick up a rogue old crustacean barleywine bomber there once.. now THAT was pricey.. $11 bomber. :eek: but it was delicious!

The Stoudts Pils is the one that made me go, wait? Do I like pilsners? I don't, do I?

I try to hit every PA brewery for at least one beer. I didn't care for the Lancaster Hop Hog at all though. And the Sly Fox 113 I have to try again, I'm not even sure I was served the right one, because 113 ibus should really smack you in the face.
