OT:Beware of NYC Cops

I was riding home in Bed Stuy and went up a completely packed marcy street against traffic so I went on the sidewalk for one block. I hear cops turn on their siren and see them chasing me (they are going against traffic) to my apt. They wanted to write me up for riding on the sidewalk but I had an out of state lisence and told them I was just visiting a friend so I got out of it...

Btw, I am clearly in the wrong here -- both on the sidewalk and against traffic. However I have a hard time reasoning that I should be ticketed for it and be chased by a police van that itself is going against traffic.

Especially after they're done going the wrong way down a busy road against traffic.

I saw the direction of this thread from a miiiiiiile away. BTW I'm anti-sidewalk and anti-wrong-way-on-the-street-riding.

Thanks for the warning, I'll be sure to avoid riding the wrong way on a sidewalk.

there are times when riding on the sidewalk, slowly and carefully, makes sense. like if you live on a one-way street or something. just don't take the right of way from pedestrians.

NYC cops are unpredictable. I got written up for riding the wrong way (on my one-way street), even though I do it all the time, in front of cops. They have quotas, capricious orders and capricious personalities.

The other day I shoplifted some Tiger Stripe gum and this cop was all "Hey bro you shouldn't do that" and I'm all "**** you man my taxes pay your salary" and he's all "Seriously put it back it would be annoying to have to take you downtown for a 40 cent pack of gum" and I'm all "Dude whatever" and ended up putting it back and then I didn't have any Tiger Stripe. Off pigs.

While riding your bike on the walk isnt a good idea...its typical dumbass cop logic to have driven down the wrong way, which is 10x more dangerous, just to stop you from doing it.

A couple weeks ago I got pulled over by an unmarked cop car for riding the wrong way down a one-way street in Brooklyn. They patted me down, gave me all sorts of threats, etc. I had an out-of-state license as well, said I was visiting, but they still issued me a court summons, and said I was lucky they weren't taking me in.

You know what was ironic about this whole situation? I had yelled at them a few minutes earlier for running a red light (remember this is was an unmarked car.) Apparently that ticked them off enough to chase me down and arrest me.

Wait, you yelled at them for a traffic violation and then proceeded to ride the wrong way down a one-way?

Haha -- tiger stripe was the **** except it lost its flavor within 15 seconds -- but I like what you did otherwise

You weren't arrested. This, at the very least, is a part of your story that is untrue.

It is hard to believe that Marcy Street sidewalks wouldn't have been packed with pedestrians at an hour when the road was gridlocked with cars. Just sayin'

I'm near myrtle, not atlantic, where there isn't a lot of pedestrians. If I was closer to that part of bedstuy I would have stayed on the road.
