Hey. I'm just entering the bike world and I'm hoping to buy a new fixed geared. I'm looking for a bike that can get me around the city and something that i can mess around with in the parks (interested in tricks like skidding). Some guys have been telling me about the Bianchi San Jose. Is it worth buying? Im interested in the $400-700 range. Any advice would be helpful.

not sure i see the connection between boarding and skidding but whatev. san jose is a solid bike but i dont really think it is what you are looking for.

The San Jose does not come with a flip-flop wheelset or disc hubs, so fixing it would involve a new wheelset. If you have any interest in riding fixed off road, the San Jose would be a blast. If you are looking for something to get around town on and lay down some skids, its probably not what you want. Go to a bike store and have them help you find the right size and see if they have anything in your budget. If not, start shopping ebay or craigslist for something in your size and budget, or start reading and build your own. Its loads of fun.

The Madison frame is a tad heavy. Not the best for popping wheelies (if you're going to do skids, you might as well go for wheelies).
